Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Friday 23rd October. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning all,
No N9eav or Diva this morning
, its been ages since i started the daily.
Just going to take dd's tempreture, she is feeling worse than ever, constantly coughing, shivering, boiling hot etc, NPM, thanks for the warning, I will certainly keep an eye on it. Her temp is high, think I might phone the doc later.
Will see how she is in a while, before making a decison about work. Need to have a general clean around, a wash to put on, and decide what to do for tea.
Cant think of anything much more to say, so hugs to all in need,
Have good days all xxx

Where is everyone? Having a lie in? Lucky things
Anyway morning to one and all.
Took DS to a "disco" at school last night. He stood in the school hall shell shocked at the noise and the lights. He didn't really dance (bit like his father) but held on tight to my hand while I had a boogie
He did join in the kids in playing pass the parcel which is a first :T
Mindee coming today so not much OS going on. Its her birthday the weekend so think we'll have a crafty day making party hats. Her mum is going to bring a party cake so there goes my waistline
Got rolled leg of pork in SC so that will do the kids for lunch.
Pen-pin - have a lovely break away, glad you made it there safe
Lowesy & Curly - hugs to you both xx a friend is having fertility issues so I know how hard it can be
Jayne - hope George enjoys his kitty spending spree. Am loving the idea of a nice pink sparkly collarHope your chest infection and head cold clear up quick.
Hugs to those that need them.
Have a good day at work OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -
Morning all
Not many people about this morning, you all having a crafty lie-in or just don't want to get up in the dark! Had quite a productive day yesterday, washing, drying and ironing, got some housework done, so still have some washing, ironing and housework to do today and also this week's food shop. Had fish from freezer with leftover green garden veg pie (part of Wednesday evenings meal) and Oh and boys had chicken, chips and beans. Will need to organise something for tonight but am food shopping today so will hunt something out I'm sure. Am enjoying time off but need to get lots of jobs done so hoping I don't catch OH's cold and cough, he's really not that well but keeps plodding on. Not much else to say really.
Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning all,
Well I did log on earlier and saw that the thread hadn't started. Too lazy to do itso here I am a bit later. Thanks Ruby.
I hope DD doesn't get worse.
Went shopping etc this morning. I then dropped off a gift to a friend. She's having a baby shower tomorrow for her daughter that I"m invited to but not going. But I bought her a gift anyway. I'm going out with DD.
I bought our Eurostar tickets today. I think I got a good deal. London to Paris for 2 for 77 Euro. Going to the club for tea tonight so no cooking for me. Aren't I lucky.I suppose I better go and put the chooks back in and water the garden. Weather forecast says rain on Monday :T so that'll be good if it happens. I won't hold my breath.
Bitsy Bless.
Cranky I hope George enjoys his shopping spree.
Enjoy your friday. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Hi Guys,
Ive been back a couple of times to see if anyone about? I was too chicken to start the thread as Ive never done it before. I guess you cut and paste and ammend details as necessary?
I have had a slow start to the day. Went to bed early but subsequently woke up very early too. I need to get some washing on and organise the ironing as there is loads.
Second night running we had a bread and butter meal as poorly george fancied cream of tomato soup out of a tin! Its funny the cravings we have when we are poorly. Jayne - I totally understand your eating at the moment. I recently went to a meeting about the interaction of food and the body and what happens at times of stress. She suggested b vitamins as they take a battering!
I need to organise a shop for tomorrow. My son has another meeting re his job this afternoon. They are sending him to Occupational Health now. Very stressful.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Love, MollyxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

Morning All
Redruby - (((hugs))) for DD & anyone else under the weather.
Havnt managed to catch up with the thread last couple of days - will maybe try later.
Laptop is back from the PC Man, is faster but am waiting for some more memory - unfortunately they are waiting for it to be delivered from Scotland by Royal Mail  so hopefully that will turn up next week - will be superduper fast then.
Today DD is at home as she has an inset day. I have promised to take her shopping this afternoon for some warm clothes. I am not going to the big town (too much temptation there) but to a little one half hour away where they have a new look. We will go after lunch & I will treat myself to a costa coffee.
Yesterday DD had a routine hospital appointment at Southend hospital, wasnt kept waiting too long so that was good. But we went to the loo afterwards, about 11am. Well the log confirmed that no-one had checked it that day  the bin was overflowing with paper towells so people had started putting them on top of the bin & all over the floor. There was also some dressings on there too, DD refused to go in there. I reported it to the advice desk right outside, the woman couldnt believe it as there is a boardroom next door where the senior managers were having a meeting - at least 2 of them had used the loo & not mentioned it at all. She got straight on with it - I should have taken some photo's it was so shocking
Well thats my rant of the day over :rotfl:this morning really need to get on with the pile of paperwork on my desk. OH will probably do some housework - it is still very wet here & muddy footprints are everywhere.
Fish pie for dinner tonight - kids dont love it but OH does.
Have a great Friday.x0 -
Morning all,
I'm about to cycle to school with dd. The boys have a teacher training day so they're not really up yet. I plan to take them to the barber's when I get back. Ds2 has finally given up his struggle to obtain a surfe dude hair style, thank heavens as his hair just grows up a bit like a gonk or like this:eek::rotfl:
We need to pop into Tesco's and get wine and fish for supper tonight. Then I'm off to the butcher to place a freezer order which I will collect next week.
Breakfast was hm granola or taost.
Dd has a ham sandwich, flapjack and fruit, me and the boys will have leftover veg curry or egg fried rice -or both.
Supper will be fish- salmon probably.
Have a good day.0 -
Had a thick slice of home made bread and butter for breakfast and have a tray with fresh pot of tea beside me.
Did not do much cooking yesterday because of viewers so might make a large shepherd's pie for tonight to use the pork mince and sausages in the fridge.
Not sure if DH is working from home today - if so I'll offer him cooked brekkie. We have been looking at so many different cars and car showrooms lately I am starting to dream about the things. He wants a low tax, low insurance, economical car with incredible amount of miles to the gallon but "high" and roomy enough for DDs stuff when she comes back from uni.So far we have looked at Roomsters, Parters, Nemos, Quobos, Multiplas, Yetis, Tepees, Bippers and now he has heard of something called "Greenline by Fabia he wants to look at
Seem to have done nothing but look at cars, make plans for renovating elderly relatives bungalow and prepare for viewers.
Home baked loaf has nearly all gone and I need to go and buy more eggs for later.
Essex-Girl
You have just reminded me I need to get this laptop sorted-DD got it two years ago and some months ago changed all the passwords.
You guessed it! She forgot the admin password so nothing works properly and I have been struggling on with it.

Hope DD feels better soon but good idea to phone doctor. Could it be flu and does she need Tamiflu? News last night said cases doubled last week and it hits children and teenagers much more than older people .
Have just heard DH arranging another test drive for later this morning- Oh Joy!!!
Hug to all"This site is addictive!"

Morning all,
Thanks to all who offered advice and/or hugs much appreciated. Feeling much less hormonal and irrational todayI also seem to have shaken the majority of my earache and sore throat but have some back up honey and lemon here at work just in case.
Have got more packing to do when home from work tonight as moving next week :j can't wait, the downstairs neighbours reached an all time crescendo yesterday afternoon when I got home - I thought someone was murdering a seal  And more to the point - don't these people work?! How do they pay the rent?!
Anyway, think tea tonight will be a beef stew with pearl barley. Might even make some dumplings if the mood takes me who knows. DH was a sweetie yesterday and brought me home a box of chocolates to cheer me up so I have suspended all baking activities until we move. I just have not got the time at present!!
Hope everyone has a nice Friday and weekend if I don't manage to pop in.
Hugs to all

Morning all!
Mild and sunny here today, and even though the thermostat was set very low (cos it was easier than messing about with the timer - okay I couldn't be bothered to walk to it!) we almost cooked last night! Have just gone and turned the heating off again, and flung all the windows open, it really is a lovely day.
OS stuff today will be hoovering, cleaning, doing the dishes from last night and the accumulated ones in the kids' rooms, and reorganising the fridge so that I can marinade the defrosting pork (OH came home with 6kg of it last night! I know I told him that my neighbours had huge appetites, but even so! We will be freezing quite a bit of pork casserole I suspect!)
I really think I'm going to have to do a bit more organising in the kitchen and utility too, might have to relent and let OH put shelves up. Looking around at it makes me feel like I should be posting on "confessions of a very tired old styler", I have a collection of jars awaiting pickle, a collection of bottles to decant the hm wine into, a huge green tray full of veg that oh bought home, 3 big bags of potatoes that need putting in a hessian sack (when one of my lovely farming neighbours remembers to drop one round!) and then into the garage, a tower of baked bean tins that should really be under the stairs, the dehydrator is in front of the remoska so I can't get at it properly (wire's aren't long enough to put them where I'd like!), the espresso machine has dried on milk on the pump where the kids have forgotten to wipe it off, one of the kids has knocked tea leaves behind the oil bottles, and the sink is full of pots!
Good news is dd3 is back at school, yippee! Means I have no excuses for not getting on with things, boo!
Eldest 3 have taken lunch money today as a treat, no doubt they'll buy sarnies like they usually do! Seems a bit daft really!
dd3's packed lunch: ham, cucumber slices, carrot sticks, cheese cubes, satsuma and gu mousse (picked up for 50p for 3 when I got the cat litter last night)
Dinner tonight: roast chicken with veg (got to use some of it up!) and roast pots, followed by a choc dessert (part of Mr T's finest range, reduced to 88p for 2, were £3.50 - who pays that much??????) I shall have a veg thingy instead of the chicken.
Cuppa and read through before I get started, well it is national get online day! Hugs to all who need them xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000
