Steps I take when setting up.
1 select level spot.
2 mow the grass.
3 rake the grass - gets rid of any stones, twigs that may damage pool.
4 lay groundsheet
5 lay out the pool and inflate the top ring.
6 start filling with water to around 1 inch.
7 get in pool and walk the base to smooth out creases. Bit like you would when laying a carpet.
8 carry on filling. Will take around 5-6 hours I guess. Our 13' pool takes 8 hours.
9 hook up the filter. Take care when tightening jubilee clips. One slip with the screwdriver and you could puncture the pool.
Then get down the shops / garden centre and buy
- inflatable toy / sunbed.
- chlorine granules and test strips
- a skimmer net to remove debris (see my other thread re kit at woolworths)
- solar cover.
The solar cover is a round sheet of glorified bubble wrap but it does help to increase the water temp a few degrees. Ours was 24 deg C yesterday.
Get BBQ out, trunks / costume on and have fun.0 -
we bought one of these y/day but got ours from argos as it came with a cover - however, the cover broke as soon as we tried to put it on - also, the beach kits that came free with it were out of stock and they said it could be 2months before they come in and we just have to keep trying to get one when they come back in - not very happy as I know have to go back and change the cover, then go back again when the kits are in.0

Id say if your kid wants to swim then you might find in your local town that they have a public free outwide swimming pool. Always good for the kids.Kind Regards

Went in to B&Q today and scanned the 10ft quick up pool and it scanned at £59.98 so possibly a local offer or a one off.
We then went to Makro who had 8ft quick up pools for £19.99 or a 10ft frame pool for £74.99 ( vat to be added onto both prices ) I was just about to get the frame pool when I had a call off my dad who had seen 10 ft frame pools for £59.99 in TK Maxx
only problem was he was in Torquay and I am in South Wales but after a quick trip to the nearest TK Maxx I managed to get the last one , no pump or cover but I have that from the last pool.0 -
I brought one from Argos, set it up on the grass. Every one had a good time in it today.
Know I'm left with zillions of liters of water to get rid of somehow, I'm thinking of hiring a pumpI find Viagra saves peeing on my shoe.....0 -

Leave it up for the summer. Great fun to dive in and cool off after work.
Makes a mess of the grass but it does grow back.0 -
The b & q pools are the ones in a yellow box that they have left from last year , this years pools are in a blue box which do scan at full price . If there is any one in Glasgow looking for one i bought one from the Darnley store a few days ago along with other things that they had left from last year ie cheap dingys and inflatable sunbeds and they still had 4 or 5 10 ft pools left.0

Hi, can anyone confirm whether it is ok to fill my pool. We bought the 12ft pool from Netto last year and we haven't put it up as we are in the south east and thought we were banned from filling our pools. Could have really enjoyed it today!0 -
It depends on where you live; more specifically on who supplies your water. Only a drought order will prohibit the filling of pools and the only company with one of those is Sutton and East Surrey (although Thames have applied for one). I'm in the Three Valleys area - I can't use a hosepipe to water my garden or wash my car but it's OK to fill a pool (wish I'd had one today).bargainaddict wrote:Hi, can anyone confirm whether it is ok to fill my pool. As I understand it.
If you have a hosepipe ban you can fill it.
If you are in an area with a drought order, you cannot.0
