I prefer being abroad and having breakfast, for example, than I do when I stay in the UK. I can't stand cooked breakfasts (ugh), and I remember staying in this B&B in Reading and being looked at like I was quite mad as I didn't want a fried breakfast.
I wouldn't take milk abroad in a suitcase either, just imagine if it leaked and it wouldn't stay frozen very long anyway. The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0 -

I think the OP's wife should try the local produce. Much will be fresh, tasty and cheaply available. If she doesn't like it then at least she tried

Local produce might be Dog !!!!! Is it Korea that they eat them ?0 -
Produce tends to be used to refer to fruit and vegetables, not meat. Anyway, in the majority of the greek islands, the stuff that is sold in the shops is of much better quality than the UK as its naturally organic - they have no need to force grow stuff - and cheaper.
Unfortunately there still seems to be the trend of the 'British' wanting 'British' meals when abroad and the local businesses cater for this as a result (however wrong people might think this is). Personally I think this is a great shame as I fail to see why people go abroad to read The Sun over a fried breakfast in 30c+ heat every day...
I also found it a shame that in Turkey, the 'British' still demanded their bacon and eggs despite it being a Muslim country.
As to eating dog, to the Koreans its just another meat and they see it no differently to us eating chickens, rabbit, etc.
Have you actually tried eating every variety of pasta, cheese and fruit and still you dont like them because your diet sounds very restricted?0 -

Have tried Pasta, but no thanks. Cheese ugh cannot swallow it,my mouth drys up, plus the smell puts me off. Oriental food is also a no no. A good steak is far better. Will eat salad when abroad as it tastes better in the sun !!!Still enjoy an ' English' breakfast when abroad. Thats what we Brits want and if they do not supply, Muslim or not, stuff em we do not go back. If they want to eat the crap they eat,let them, but let us eat the crap that we eat, everyones happy then.
Basically the Brits go abroad for the sun NOT the 'Foreign' food. That is why food outlets offering a taste of home are popular.0 -

It depends on your choice of holidays. We normally pick resorts that don't have fast food chains and few places catering for British tastes as part our holiday is tasting foreign foods.
One of the best meals I ever had was in a remote Mexican town way off the tourist trail. We were seated and the lady kept bringing antojitos over which is lots of little dishes of Mexican food similar to Spanish tapas. We had various things that I wouldn't have picked from a menu, like a banana leaf wrapped round some melted cheese and chilli pepper, or chicken in chocolate sauce but it was all absolutely gorgeous. Our children enjoyed it and they tucked in too. We were the only tourists eating there. Here I go again on my own....0 -
No wonder you were the only tourists if that was what was on offer!!!!!;)0
