Well start a new thread on them then, if they bother you that much.
  • Option 2- Lexus IS220d; Personally I think they're great looking cars and offer luxury at a decent price. Good economy with that engine and more room that the Focus. Downsides; more expensive to maintain should anything go wrong and will cost more to insure. Also to get a new shape model in my budget would likely be a high-ish mileage ex-lease car.

06 plates with sub 70k are available for under well 10,000...
  • I'd say the Golf, but not sure if it would be big enough for kids? Depends how old they are I suppose. Could be a hassle getting a buggy in the back?

Anyway, I'm a big fan of German cars for their looks and reliability. Maybe try a VW Golf Plus, a Touran or Sharan or a Passat? Also the BMW Touring (estate) are really nice, and plenty of room in them. Audi A4 is another possibility.

You will have to try a few and see for yourself, as no one can really advise you on this ;)

Shot yourself in the foot there ... 'for their looks' ? you then listed some of dullest, featureless, character-devoid lumps of metal ever to grace our roads on 4 bits of rubber. A Touran photo is available on the NHS as a cure for insomnia! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

They are still better looking than Citroens and some Fords

Am I supposed to suggest an Audi R8 to a person looking for a vehicle to transport their kids around? FOOL.

a diesel bmw if it was me. The service charges are not cheap but then again, ford isnt cheap either.. last time i had a ford , the timing belt did cost 440 quid and the car never felt like a car to me although it had 4 wheels engine, electric steering etc.
Look for a japanese or a german i would say.. honda is great in reliability, though the numbers on mpg are not as exciting as german cars
