How does Howden's Kitchen quote compare?

in In my home (includes DIY) MoneySaving
I realise that this is about a quote, but my question isn't really 'is it fair?' so much as 'can I do better for a similar budget and quality?'. Thank you if you take the time to read it.

I would like a reasonable quality small kitchen for a reasonable price - I'm happy to go with Howdens for this kitchen, but I'd like any suggestions as to good alternatives.

I have managed to get the quote down to around £1300 for 2 x 3m solid wood worktops, sink and tap (mid-range), 800mm corner unit, 1000mm base unit, built-under oven unit, two 500mm wall units, plus all plinths, end panel and handles.

Any comments welcomed. Thanks, msv.

    Is that a Howdens quote you have? Do you have a full breakdown of the quote? What kind of % discount are they giving you and on what range?

    It is a Howdens quote, but I don't have a breakdown. The % discount is between 75 and 85%. The range is Burford.

    How much? Just for that? I can do a full colour co-ordinated 18mm rigid carcase, with painted solid wood doors, handles, plinths etc etc, Franke sink and tap, 2 x Iroko worktops for £1294.74

    If it was a vinyl door, would be a couple of hundred quid cheaper...

    Is there ANY discount on that quote from Howdens?
    If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

    I have fitted a couple of kitchens from Howdens and find them to be very high quality and the customer service is excellent.

    10 times better than Wickes kitchens.

    Pricey but worth it

    75% on the units and 85% on plinth etc? It's a pretty fair price you're getting from Howdens.
