Car Smash -- then Stolen!

Receipts are somewhere -- it wasn't even a good GPS, just one of those little crappy off-brand ones from Macro? Mum made me buy it because she feared me getting lost in the wilds of Gateshead.
(I find myself grateful that I do not own any massively expensive electronics. My mobile phone and laptop are the only really expensive ones and they are safe. My CHARGER though is not, so I will be staring sadly at a dead phone for a few days)0 -
Bear in mind that you'll probably have to pay 2 excesses - one for the accident damage and one for the theft.0

I figured I'd return to give an update today, when I'm a little more coherent and less prone to staring into space and going "but my CAR".
The insurance have agreed to treat it as one claim rather than two, unless the car is recovered, in which case they'll see what state it's in, which is good news for my excess. My personal effects are apparently covered to £100 and do not cover the GPS, but do cover the winter jacket, books, umbrella, CDs, tapes, wellies, coolbags, jumpleads, change of clothes and other assorted stuff I had rattling in my boot.
They are, happily, taking into account the new brake discs and pads, good service history, and new tyres as long as I supply documentation (I have the service history and thankfully, after calling the garage, they keep receipt copies.)
I'm still on public transport, but heigh-ho. Today is a brighter day?0 -
Thanks for the update, the main thing is you are OK, the car can be replaced.0

Where did you crash it? Was it on a main road? It's quite possible the highways authority, highways agency or whatever subcontractor is responsible for the roads has removed the vehicle.0

Hi Mark,
Yeah, we thought of that, but the police have checked and no-one has.0
