Morning All
Happy Belated birthday Penny.
Been full of busy, our friend has been making us some new cupboards for some wasted space in our flat. The flat is currently under a cloud of dust but it'll be worth it when they are done. They are looking great already. Just need OH's Step Dad to paint them now, I'll leave him to pursuade him!!
Have some leftover pasta for dinner today *Nom Nom*
Out for dinner tonight for one of the girls leaving work.
Its cold, damp and miserable in Newcastle today and I rolled around in bed for ages before deciding I really needed to get up or I was going to be late. I dislike dark mornings. I dislike dark nights too lol, it feels like I never see the light of day when i'm at work!!
Hugs to all who need them and have a great day0 -
Morning all!
Sunny here today, have left heating on though, but turned the thermostat right down to 12 degrees, means that we won't get too cold but the kids will carry on with jumpers rather than swanning around in t-shirts! Must get everyone some more slippers, pretty certain I got rid of them during the summer as they were all a bit manky from being worn so much last winter lol!
Absolutely pooped today, for no good reason either, so not a whole lot has been done! dd2 cleaned and cleared the kitchen yesterday, she really really wants that bike for Christmas! dd3 is off still today and has paper spread all over the sitting room whilst she plays schools in between flopping on the sofa, so not much point trying to tidy there. Have cleaned the bathrooms, put some washing on and some more away, filled bm and put on some yoghurt and thrown some chicken into the sc with toms, herbs, garlic, red wine and olives and onions for spanish chicken.
Had my neighbour pop round, think I must've looked a state cos she looked slightly scared! Anyway she came to tell me there will be 10 for dinner on Saturday, so I need to borrow a couple of chairs from somewhere, else it'll be garden furniture or camping chairs and I'll have to sit tall people on them so they can reach the dining table lol!
Just spoken to OH, he has just been given a large leg of pork as a pressie from his meat supplier, so we are going to do a pork and cider casserole with cream, and luckily I picked up a couple of red cabbages last night reduced to 10p each, so will prepare them and cook in vinegar (can't think of proper name!), excess can go in freezer, but easy to prepare cabbage all in one go for several meals as it takes a few hours to cook. Also going to do a chicken dish, breasts stuffed with garlic cheese and wrapped in pancetta, so quick and easy. Will serve with champ, roasties, the aforementioned red cabbage, cheesy leeks (cos everyone in the village loves them and there are complaints if they aren't available!), glazed carrots and broccoli.
I will be buying several whole chickens and chopping them up, won't cost a whole lot more than just buying breasts, and this way we'll have plenty for the freezer. Actually I just quite like the fact that I can chop them up myself now!
Packed lunches: cheese and pickle sarnies, mars bar muffins, apple, mango and pineapple pieces.
Lunch for dd1: carrot and lentil soup and hm crusty roll
Lunch for me: spicy veg stew
Dinner for kids: spanish chicken with mini crispy roasties and broccoli
Happy anniversary to CM or should we just refer to you as the child bride now?!
Bargain - well done Spike, bet you're tearing your hair out now though!
Jayne and George - lots of hugs xx
Jackie - glad you are sailing at full speed ahead now!
Bitsy - in our Mr T's they have the huge bags of basmati (5kg I think) at £4.99, special offer on a reddish bag with a big yellow flash saying the price.

Lillibet - fingers crossed that the house sale moves swiftly from now on.

Afternoon all.
Molly Dog's coming this afternoon. WHOO-HOO:j:j:j
Scooter battery is all charged, ready for "walkies".
Luckily, I'm a lot less "coldy" than I was yesterday, no longer seem to be coughing up blood, so that's a really good thing. My voice has gone MIA (Maybe it's eloped with Diva's:D) but apart from that, I'm on the mend.
Dins tonight is Blind Muntjac, ie no idea. (No Eye Deer, geddit?:D) possibly egg'n'chips, or maybe omelette. Or then again, might be pasta'n'cheese sauce. Hmm, decisions, decisions.....
((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one today. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Afternoon all,
Happy anniversary CM.
Taplady....hugs for DS2, something will turn up soon for him, I hope.
Celyn...your cakes always look lovely, not sure if clumsiness or lack of patience is my problem, making the cake I find easy but decoration is left to DD4.
Hugs to Jayne and George and anyone else in need or want.
Survived the mammogram this morning, was less traumatic than usual for some reason, now just wait for next 10 days for results.
Lamb yesterday was delicious, think I have enough left over for curry or some such, just for OH and me I think.
DGS2 is 7 to-day and hopefully will call in with his mam on way from school, have his presents and will make some kind of cake...might even make some pancakes as he loves them. Left a card at their house last night as he loves to get post.
Have put a wash on but not too hopeful that it will dry outside, will have to use one of the spare rooms for clothes horse I think.
Congratulations Spike....that will keep Mum on her toes!

Afternoon peeps
wet and cold here this morning so i got wrapped up well when i went out with the houndies, both are happilly snoozing away now and little oldie is having doggie dreams, he is making small comical noises and snoring
Yesterday went by in a bit of a blur as i blitzed the house from top to bottom and also took advantage of the dry weather and cut the grass on the back garden, I made a huge beef balti which is now portioned up and frozen.
Today i have started to tackle the ironing mountain  i`ve managed to get halfway through it and then decided that i would finish it tomorrow. I popped to Morrisons for the half price litres of Harveys Bristol Cream. That is well hidden upstairs now so that DH can`t drink it before Christmas, there`s something about that drink that screams out Christmas to me so i absolutely HAVE to get some, i wait for the offers to buy it every year.:D
Off to w*rk shortly so my afternoon is spoken for but hopefully if it`s quiet i can design some labels for the jams/chutneys/pickles that will be going in the hampres this year, i also filtered 4 demi johns of wine earlier so when its ready to be bottled some of that can go in hampers too.
Taplady - I hope that your DS finds the job that suits him best soon, i echo Snoozers words and i`m sure that his ideal job will turn up soon.
MSD - Glad that you are feeling better and that your voice is returning, i often think that DH would love me to lose mine again
Nordictat2 - glad to hear you are ok.
Bargainbird - :jwell done to Spike!
N9eav - We have a DC04 in one of the spare rooms upstairs, it has always been a fantastic machine - until i changed the belt, it won`t work properly now despite me taking it to pieces several times  i checked that the belt was the correct one for the model but the head just dosent hug the floor anymore when its switched on, think i will probably end up paying for the service to sort it out.
Redruby - I felt myself turning green with envy when you mentioned your utility room, we had one at our previous house and it is greatly missed
Lame Wolf - Hope that you are feeling better today, enjoy your time with Molly doggie
Floss2 - Great news re your OH`s job :j
Jayward - Glad to hear that your hospital appointment was better this time.
Dazi - Glad to hear that the bank sorted everything for you - not a nice thing to happen.
Bitsy - The dyson website has the new hoses available HTH
Kitchen Bunny - Welcome back, your holiday sounds idyllic
Church Mouse - Happy Anniversary :bdaycake:
Must dash, have a good afternoon everyone!
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Hello daily thread! I'm New!!
I am trying to resist the urge to post on all the threads, lest i appear to be crazy!
I have only just started old-stying so I haven't got a long list of achievements, but for the fact that i had left over chicken pie for my lunch. I made the pastry myself yesterday but I only had enough for a top crust, so I might need a new recipe. Still tastes like pie though.:D
I am 27, and studying from home, for a BA in English.
I hope to one day be smart enough to answer someone else's question on this forum!0 -
Welcome thykingdomcome! This can get addictive, so don't worry too much about appearing crazy, most of us are!!! OS lists tend to be included now as every so often there are moans that it has become a chat thread, doesn't mean that any of us are superwomen though, most of us are just muddling through, though when bethebee is around you will need to sit down, as her posts are tiring never mind the amount she actually does!!! Pie sounds lovely, I often only top mine with pastry, quicker and less fattening! If you want a bottom as well just double up the quantities.
Well all I've done is help dd3 make a crown and put some more olives on to marinade (actually just involves tipping cheap olives in a tub with oil, herbs and garlic!) Had a nice cuppa too and think I might make another one whilst listening to Dr Morelle on Radio 7.
Just remembered I've got ds's sixth form meeting tonight, oh joy! So will be late into work and therefore will finish very late, poo poo! Also volunteered for overtime next week during the mornings, kids won't notice as they'll all be asleep till lunchtime no doubt! Besides the money will be very handy for Christmas!
Think I shall multitask a bit and listen to the radio whilst looking up recipes, want to use up freezer stuff a bit and fancy something other than the usual stuff! Also remembered I need to put together a meal plan for a friend, and include rubber chicken and stretchy mince, she is not so much on a tight budget as almost no budget! She's on a very steep learning curve right now as she used to shop at M&S for her groceries! Need to teach her the art of finding whoopsies and working them into your meal plans! So perhaps not so much a meal plan as a guide to OS food, think I might treat her to a copy of Econ Gast as well, and a bottle of wine and some decanted spices and herbs (have large catering sized packs here thanks to OH ordering mine with his!)GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

Welcome ThyKingdomCome.
I'm not that particularly "good" at OS myself; I sort of muddle along as best I can; but just occasionally a question will be asked where I sort of say to myself "ooh, I know how to sort that out" and you may find that's how it goes with you.
Well done on doing the pastry for your pie. You can't beat HM pastry!:o
I'm now going to tear myself away from MSE and cobble up some labels for my HM mincemeat!:DIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
