Options

This has got to be a scam of some sort. The best way to lose weight is slowly through a sensible diet - and no I'm not trying to be patronising, I've done it so....

18 in 4 sounds... dangerous really. It would probably all fluid that would come back on straight away.

I understand you may be impatient to lose weight I would be very very careful with something like this.

I can guarantee that the weight would be back on again in less than a month. If you're the kind of person who hasn't got the willpower to lose weight slowly through healthy diet and exercise then you're not going to be determined enought to maintain any kind of weight loss brought about by a fad diet.

If it was as good as he says it is he would be a multi millionaire and everyone would be talking about it.

I love the disclaimer on his site....
THE SELLER MAKES NO GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT, BECOME MORE ATTRACTIVE, OR RECEIVE ANY OTHER EFFECT.

I'm sorry but these things are ALWAYS bad for you, they NEVER offer lasting effects and they CONTINUE to make mugs out of people.

There's slow and slow... if you're only trying to lose 14 pounds, even 8 OUNCES a week is only going to take 6 months or so. Only way to lose weight is to use more energy than you take in - the short-term 'crash' diets tend to rely on dehydration.

Dunno if you are a regular excerciser, but an extra 15 mins a day, even if it's just walking, can do the job. Easy stuff like using stairs instead of taking the lift, walking to the shops instead of taking the car, walk round the block a couple of times during luch-break etc can help with the using energy.

Make a note of what you eat and drink (booze...) and just cutting down slightly helps with the energy input. Cut down on the 'nibbles', the temptation to have the odd biscuit or two when you make tea/coffee. Avoid the 'salad trap' - few calories in the salad, but the mayo's a killer and not enough carbohydrates to give you that 'full up' feeling.

Never had to diet myself - just used the slightly less in, slightly more out routine when I notice clothes have started to shrink in the wash... good luck.

Write down everything that goes in your mouth. I have lost 17 lbs in the last 7 weeks - lots to go. I use a website called fitday.com to keep treack, but I'm sure there are others.

Let’s do the maths. I’m going to assume one gram of body mass in the form of fat equals seven calories. I was flicking through the TV channels this evening and some doctor said 11.5kg of sugar would put on one stone of weight. My seven calories assumption is consistent with that. Eighteen pounds is 8164g. So, that’s 57152 calories. Assume no food, so that’s no calories coming in. What’s the maximum amount of calories a body can possibly use in a day? Let’s say four thousand. That would be doing something like a trek to the North Pole. So, that’s no food coming in, trekking to the North Pole, and it would take you about a fortnight to lose a stone in weight.

If you lost eighteen pounds through dehydration, that’s going to make you either very ill or very dead, depending on what weight you started out at.

So, we can safely assume that the only way to lose eighteen pounds in four days is to have it surgically removed. Losing weight is extremely difficult. A little body fat equals a lot of calories that have to be used up, and the body is designed to hold on to its energy reserves. Unfortunately, it’s a case of it being a very slow process. Anyone who does manage to lose weight consistently, like jenniferpa, is showing a lot of determination, and deserves a round of applause. :T

Well thank you kindly - it's nice to get some level of recognition! Actually, allowing the computer to track just what I'm putting in my mouth has made it much easier to get through those plateaus you always get in dieting: you know exactly how many calories you've taken in, and even with a sedentary lifestyle you use up a certain number of calories just living. When you track the incoming and outgoing you can really see that you DO need to eat 3500 calories less to lose a pound. Its not magic. Only, I do sometimes wonder how (or why) one can consistently eat less and go for over a week without the scales showing a drop and then suddenly, one day ones down 2 lbs (which is what happened to me this morning). I mean, where did that go overnight?? Not that I'm complaining, its just bizzare.

Considering that a litre of water weighs a kilo and that a kilo is just over two pounds you can assume that a period of water retention followed by a few good wee wees can reduce your weight by a couple of pounds.

I'm not saying that your weight loss is invalid but that womens weights fluctuate due to water and especially over the course of a month weight can fluctuate by several pounds purely because your body holds onto fluid at certain times.

Also women tend to eat different things at different times of the month. I crave carbs, hold water and feel 'big' mid cycle whereas I crave sugar, lose fluid and feel slim at the end of the month.

I don't think that many diets allow for these fluctuations in womens cycles.

    Women eh? We're complex creatures.
