            want to thank everyone for advice....and also say sorry for causing so much confusion..wasnt sure how to post new question...
 just to let you no borris was taken back today...as usal they turned up unannouced...tried to reason with her...offered money ect
 i will say one thing dogs know...whats going on allday borris has been in a quiet somber sort of mood...sticking very close to me..when i new he was going i got so upset he was looking at me with his eyes fixed on me i was sat on the settee he jumped up and put his head next to mine tears streaming down my face as if to comfort me...its been the hardest thing to let him go....poor thing i will miss him and his silly antics and watching him swim...we certantly had bonded..any way thanks for all the advice]

            George, I am so sorry to hear that you must be absolutely gutted....
 Is there any chance that you can keep some sort of contact with them so that if/when they find they are unable to keep him in the future, that you could offer to take him on again?
 If not, I suppose there's very little you can do... however, please don't forget that the rescues are absolutely overflowing with lovely staffies, and if you felt at some point in the future that you would like to give one of these a home, you could have a loyal friend once again, and could possibly save the life of another little dog who needs a kind human.
 I am really sorry for you, it must feel awful at the moment-I can quite understand how much you can bond with a dog in a relatively short period of time... however, you did your best and that's all you can do.

 She seems such an unreliable sort of person that it's quite likely she'll want to 'dump' him on you again when it's not convenient to have him around anymore.
 I do hope you can keep contact with him.
