Hi,
Does anybody know of a site to compare domestic heating oil prices, getting fed up of having to keep ringing round for prices, but cannot find anywhere online for price comparisons.
Sorry if this is not the correct board to post on.

There doesn't appear to be one ,least not that I can see but others might have more luck for you0

Information regarding oil would be appreciated, as I have just moved into a house using oil.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0

I can't find such a website either, but if its any help, Southern County Fuels
https://www.scf.co.uk
provide a daily online price ( but my local supplier was a penny cheaper than them when I rang today).0 -
As I am currently thinking about installing central heating I would like to find a site that shows an up-to-date comparison of domestic heating costs using different fuels (given the recent price hike in oil which many say is here to stay).
Anyone any ideas?0 -
I have looked for a site that gives the approx cost per KwH using oil fired central heating without success.
I appreciate that this depends on the cost of fuel, the calorific value of the fuel and effeciency of the boiler.
Electricity costs approx 2.5-3.0p(economy 7) and 6-7p(standard) per KwH and has a 100% efficiency(In theory - I know the problems with Night Storage Heaters!)
Gas costs say 1.6 - 1.8p a KwH and boiler efficiency is typically 80-93%.
Oil boiler efficiency is in the same ball park(80-93%) but can anyone make an educated guess at the cost per KwH?
All I know is that my friends with Oil Fired Central heating seem to spend huge sums each year.0 -

Answering my own question the DEFRA site quotes the calorific value of 28 second domestic oil at 11.53KwH per litre.
Taking the price of this oil at 32p a litre the price per KwH is 2.78p.
Currently this is approx 60% more expensive than gas.0 -
