What's hard to understand? The online tariff you quote is not a fix price for a set period. Its a variable tariff, so the energy rate can go up as well as down. You are not trapped forever, you can leave whenever you want for nothing.

No you have to remain on untill the end date which can be extended indefinately.

What you have said is untrue.
    Prove your false statements.
    Evidence.
Toffs laying into the less well off? Surely not!! :naughty:

    Adprob,
You are in good company if Capistan/esbo/iamesbo/windmill farmer etc states you have no morals.

Having been banned so many times he is now quite restrained compared to his previous utterances - still rude though.

He is, shall we say, err different!

Calm down! Have you ever contacted them by email regarding this? I have and I got this written response re EDF Energy Online Tariff V5, which I now keep as formal clarification of the ambiguous terms of the contract:

Thank you for your e-mail dated 11 August 2009

I can confirm that there are no cancellation penalties attached to this tariff. You are free to leave this tariff or change supplier at any time.

Should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

I also emailed them and got the same reply. BUT it's frankly a ridiculous T&C if we have to email them to ask them what it means - it should be written in a totally unambiguous way. Let's look at it again:
    6. You agree to remain on the EDF Energy Online Tariff Version 5 for each account
until the Online Tariff Version 5 comes to an end, which, unless we write to you to advise of any extension, shall be 31 July 2010 (the ‘End Date’).

The truly cynical (not I, obviously ) would suggest this is another example of confusion marketing. How many people will actually take the trouble to ascertain that this ISN'T a cancellation fee clause, I wonder? 6? 10? 20?

Like I said before, ambiguous T&Cs like this should be outlawed. And the T&C regarding just guaranteeing a 2% reduction on standard rate when it's currently more like 16% to get to the top of the switching sites should be nuked into orbit. It's yet more confusion marketing. EDF are by no means the worst exponent of this, BTW, IIRC Scottish Power's new Online 7 tariff has a very similar T&C but even worse this actually DOES have an exit fee...

Where does it state in the T&C that there is any sort of exit penalty? If I were unsure and were considering moving energy supplier, a task not to be taken lightly. I would email their customer services for clarification. It would seem that too many folk just jump in with both feet without reading exactly what their new tariff entails. Then end up posting here about unfair T&C which they agreed too!

Back off ignore now the UW thread is no more. This really is a bit rich coming from a long-term Eon customer like yourself who wasn't aware of the 'no discount on final bill' T&C AND also believed their discount was paid annually until a non-Eon customer (me!) pointed these out to you. :p Your mantra is cleary 'Do as I say, not as I do'...

    Oh, we are friends again?;)

The fact remains that my ignorance as to my own tariff was my responsibility, end of story. If I was caught out when leaving Eon I wouldn't come on here moaning about it. I'm over 18 therefore responsible for my own actions, folk will spend more time looking at holidays than they do T&C for their own energy supplier, myself included.
