Cheapest Source For Domain Name ?

I don't know if this is the correct section, but I know I read a few posts a little while back, recommending domain names for people who wanted their own email address. I have searched but cannot find the thread, so can anyone out there recommend the best deal on a domain name for those who are changing their ISP but don't want to use Goggle. Yahoo mail etc.

I've used 123-reg for a couple. I use them for email forwarding and it was straightforward both times.*************************

I used http://www.ukreg.com/ who will give you free site & email forwarding. Very cheap.0

Well thanks to everyone who gave their recommendations.
From a cursory look at all websites, it does appear that ukreg.com are the cheapest. Any one know of any problems with them ?"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -
although price is primary factor do take care when choosing an unknown company. They may have inferior control panels which allow you to do less things with your domain automatically.
i recommend 123reg.0 -
Although I still recommend 123reg if you do decide to go with the one and one (1&1) recommendation - use quidco.0

No - look again
on price, excluding VAT One and are the cheapest -
eg co.uk 1.99 a year
ukReg £2.95
123reg £2.590 -
Patr100 - Well I did say from a cursory examination of the websites ! But the prices and different packages are confusing to a non-techie like me (and many others). If you go for the cheapest package £1.99 +vat per year, what exactly does that give you? I am purely interested in getting my own (and possibly family members) an e-mail address, that will be permanent. I have a gmail address and have recommended this to others, but apparently they store all your e-mails for ever and use them to poll your preferences. Also if you use their website to look at your mail, it now has search links to sites which their computers think are relevant! Fortunately these do not come through on Outlook Express, but just as an example I was sent a joke the other day about a guy on a beach. The links were to travel companies, sand & ballast companies etc. Absolutely crazy."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0

Can I ask whats wrong with that? I barely notice the links and text which is blended in nicely with the interface. Dont you prefer this in comparison to hotmail with massive flashing banners? I have tried numerous email interfaces even using POP3/Outlook etc and I'm hooked with gmail. I'm on the gmail for your domain beta which means I can use my own domain name ON the gmail interface. I still get ads and I barely notice them. The fact they are "related" links based on the body of text in my email doesn't bother me in the slightest.0
