Yes that is exactly what you can do. Somewhat shooting yourself in the foot though!

I bet if you kept doing rejecting orders unless the online price matched the 'at your door' price you would end up on Tesco's banned customer list.

Hi there, I always find Tesco's very good. Most of the stuff arrives and the drivers always ask politely if I am happy with the order. Customer services are always very quick to respond if there is a problem and generally refund if you are unhappy in my experience. Maybe it does depend on where you are. I get your point about the pricing, but always seem to find the monthly shopping bill when it is actually delivered comes to less than the ordered guide price so I am happy with that.

I find that the total price is usually lower than the guide price too, but that's because of all the multi-buy offers that don't get included until the final bill.

It's very difficult to check everything at the door, because the drivers are usually in a hurry and there's just enough time to check substitutions and that the eggs aren't broken!
Definitely no time to check the price of each item. The only reason I checked this time was because I couldn't remember ordering this particular item, so I checked the delivery note against my order and noticed the massive difference in price. I wouldn't normally bother.

Just tried Tesco.com and was happy with the service. All items present and the driver was nice and chatty. It arrived an hour earlier than expected, although he did phone me 15 mins before arriving to check I was in.

The bill at the door was much cheaper than the online price, as the BOGOF's and other offers are not included in the online total, but are when the order is delivered.

My only complaint would be the overuse of carrier bags - eg a punnet of cherry tomatoes in one, a packet of coffee in another. I normally take some "bag for life" bags when I go shopping to save carrier bags, so I'm not impressed with them putting one item in a bag!

I also got a pack of baking potatoes in with my veg, but they are not on the bill nor did I order them
Here I go again on my own....
  • Asda have always been fine with me, I've rang their customer services dept 2 to complain and they always refunded the delivery charge as compen. Think it depends when you get shopping delivered, weekends I suppose will be pretty hectic for the folk that pack the bags. Any returns that haven't been suitable - they all have been- can be returned to the driver and the price refunded. For me, as a non driver, its perfect, they bag it bring it you just need to unpack it.
RIP Floyd - 19/04/09. I know i'll see you again my best friend forever.

You can recycle the bags by giving them back to the driver next time they drop your shopping off.

I've had no problem that hasn't been solved with tesco.com grocery.. electricals however is a different matter, i'm still in talks with them and considering further action grrr.

I love Tescos, I am collecting points for my big florida holiday, £70.00 in vouchers in only 3 months of shopping, but i have have just found that i have been charged twice for a delivery which was cancelled and rescheduled. twice!! i have paid for 4 lots of shopping and only recieved 2. they are currently looking into this and are very sorry!

I will continue to use them as I want a free holiday, and I do think that normally they are very good, cheap friendly and somewhat reliable but I want more points, can they compensate you in tesco points??

This happened to me, too. I phoned them because it meant over £100 extra had unexpectedly come out of my account and I needed a refund, pronto! They have been great - Customer Services arranged for the store to call me direct - they left a very apologetic message and put the refund through immediately. Very pleased with the response.

Their service in general is fab - the delivery charge is probably less than I would spend on petrol to get to the store and back, and provided you check your substitutions (they have a canny knack of subbing you with more expensive verions!) their deliveries are usually spot on. On the odd occasion there's been something missing when I unpack, one email to them and it's refunded, no questions asked. :T

This has happened to me too. I wonder how many times they do this? I was charged twice for one delivery and was left £103 out of pocket which is a serious amount of money to me. After being fobbed off several times by them (via, the online help number) and then the stores manager I was eventually told that it was up to the individual store to refund me and that they could take up to fourteen working days. Three weeks later, and still waiting, I contacted them via, their online number and got the refund straight away. So it was bull about the individual store refunding me. I wasn't very happy and have since gone back to Morrisons and now pay £2.50 for a taxi and pay less for the same groceries with lots of BOGOF offers.

Well, I am still holding out for a refund, the store has not phoned me and I still haven't recieved any money back, but I am still in a positive frame of mind about it all. they owe me £152. but I won't place another order until I have this back. I'm hoping for a good will gesture of a few thousand points!
