Tesco Shopper? An easy way to double the Clubcard points you earn

We've had a Tesco ClubCard Plus account for several years.
It saves a lot of messing about whilst shopping and it's equally easy to take money out if needed - in the meantime it's earning interest and, because the other half doesn't pay tax, the return is even better.
Re the TalkTalk offer. I took it up on April 13th, two days after it was launched, and my One.Tel account (now part of TalkTalk) was switched to Talk3 International on May 4th.
I have always had a change over date of June 5th for the broadband which should be 8MB against my current 1MB unlimited with Tiscali, for which I paid £14.99 a month until it recently dropped it to £12.99 on its Upgrade/Downgrade site.
Ironically Tiscali is now offering me 8MB from August but there's a catch - it would cost me £17.99 a month.
Compare that to £20.99 with TalkTalk that includes free AnyTime UK and international calls to 28 countries, along with the broadband, and it's no contest.0 -
abjem, I know this is off-topic but me and the fella have saved our vouchers for 2 years for a holiday. If you don't mind can you tell me who you went with, Virgin or the other one whose name escapes me, and if you had any problems. We need to decide soon as we have vouchers that expire at the end of the month.
Cheers0 -

There are normally vouchers for 1000 extra points if you spend £75, which is far better than just double.
The clubcard side of it works the same as a normal clubcard, so in this instance you would still get your 1000 bonus points, but the 75 points you get for the spend would be doubled.0 -

You may already know this, but I read on another MSE thread that you can ask Tesco to recredit unused (expired) vouchers back to your Clubcard account, so no need to rush to use them if you want to save them for a holiday. Might be best to contact Tesco to check this is OK first.
Also they can check back to see if you ever had any vouchers in the past that were mislaid/not used, and if so credit those to your account too (but I think this request may have to be in writing).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I've so far used my vouchers with Butlins and Cresta and in both cases they were totally clued up on the scheme and the whole thing went as smooth as anything. And despite what the Ts&Cs say, Cresta were happy to take a booking before we'd even received the Tesco vouchers. They just took a deposit on switch, which was refunded after we sent them our vouchers many weeks later.
I'd be happy to assume from my experiences so far that whoever you go with, there should be no problems with using your Tesco vouchers. So just pick the holiday that works best for you and enjoy the massive savings!!!0 -

Thanks

I contacted Tradewinds earlier this year for a quote for a trip to New Zealand, they gave me a price then when I said I had Tesco vouchers they promptly gave me another price which was about 10% higher. Apparently they charge 2 different prices depending on whether you have Tesco vouchers.
Consequently I didn't use the vouchers and booked the trip with someone else anyway, but I now have about £300 in vouchers which is worth £1200 in deals and would like to book a holiday but it looks like Cosmos are the only ones who have beach holidays in Europe.
I too have the old Tesco Credit Card which I pay off in full every month, I put everything on that card. I opted not to have the credit card linked to my clubcard so I get two statements and two lots of points. I always make sure my clubcard is swiped before I give them my credit card though, quite a few of the assistants point out that I don't need to swipe the clubcard if I have a Tesco CC but as I get two lots of points I think it makes a difference.Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you0 -
Our local store is Reading and although its a huge store, Tesco have closed all the deli counter and replaced it with a chilled counter peddling little packets of factory packed meat and cheese. As we like buying things from a deli, and there are certain things (like Chirizo) you can only get there we have stopped shopping at Tesco for good. It was becoming unpleasant anyway as you fought your way through masses of Tesco 'online' shoppers blockingh all the aisles.
We do have a clubcard and Tesco credit card and these get us the points for the deals though and we often buy Diesel there. We got £67 in vouchers (£268 in deals) this quarter because we bought a kitchen and a couple of holidays with it. The Deals will go towards a cheap holiday
Going to another supermarket (Morrisons and Sainsbury's) really opened our eyes - how much better the range of food is in these stores instead of all that cheap tat that Tesco peddle! If you like good food, and aren't blinded by saving a penny here and there, give the other places a go, they really do seem to be trying. People in Reading obviously care more about low prices and convenience rather than eating well
I think Tesco has got too big for its boots and now its losing it.Survivor of debt, redundancy, endowment scams, share crashes, sky-high inflation, lousy financial advice, and multiple house price booms. Comfortably retired after learning to back my own judgement.
This is not advice - hopefully it's common sense..0 -
I have had 5 excellent totally free family holidays so far, this October we go to Turkey all inclusive for my family of 4 (Holiday value £2,650) for £505 in clubcard vouchers that I earnt in only 9 months. I love tesco. So should you when anyone can do this.[/QUOTE]
How much do you spend to earn this amount of Tesco vouchers???
I have read a lot of these articles and think it is all a bit confusing. With the clubcard plus card, I don't like the idea of putting the cash onto the card first - I never know how much my bill is going to come to and I wouldn't want to let my cash sit in an account that isn't going to earn interest, but I think I must be missing the point somewhere along the line as most seem to think this account is a winner. From what I have read, if you should overspend then the costs would be high!0 -

I have had my club card plus plus from the very beginning. I used to work at tesco. Left in 2002 .
I believe you still can make extra payments at customer services into the card aswell as the direct debit that goes in .Handy if you are about to do a big shop or make a big purchase. You can also get cash back upto £100, also think you do not have to purchase anything to do this. You can also swipe the points on and pay by another means if you want to. Hope this helps.Jenny
happy when saving money0
