Saddle soap is really the best stuff to use on leather, but in between I use a spray product by Whizz (sold in Pound shops) which is a leather clean and feeder in one and it lasts for ages. I just use an old dishcloth wipe it all over and it's done it also has a pleasant scent to it - almond sort of smell.Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money

The times I do mine I use cream cleaner and baby wipes, they bring it up really well and can make a cream suite look brand new. I used the smartprice cleaner so nothing expensiveCredit Card: £796 Left/£900 October 2011 :eek:Store Card: £100 October 2011

You need to be careful what you use on leather as the wrong thing can cause exoensive problems. Having worked in the leather care industry for over a decade we work with the furniture industry and the cleaning industry on safe ways to clean modern leather furniture.
Saddle soap - strictly for saddles and is too harsh a cleaner for most leathers today.
Whizz - just dealt with a consumer today who had been using this and it had broken down the finish on the leather leaving it sticky to the point where her clothes stuck to the furniture.
Baby wipes - just about the worst thing to use on finished leather. They will break the finish down and ths will then need replacing which wil be expensive. I know any of you will come back and say you have used them and everything is OK but our technicians are called out to more problems caused by baby wipes than anything else. Leather is not skin - it has been highly processed and finished so cannot be treated as such.
Washing up liquid contains too much salt these days which will also deteriorate the finish.
It is always best to use well tested leather care products as these will be more effective and will not damage the leather so will be more economical in the long term. It is also important to use the correct products for the type of leather you have. On finished leather products have to be safe to use on the finishes that have been used to create the surface in the leather - it is never the actual leather you are trying to clean.
A wipe over with a damp cloth on a regular basis will always help but correct cleaning is important as the build up of dirt together with constant abrasion from sitting on the leather cause a lot of damage to the surface coatings.
Hope this helps

I have always used the leather cleaner from the Auto shops that you would use for car seats, think its by turtle wax, very creamy, feeds as well as cleans, and has a lovely smell too.0

I use diluted baby shampoo and works ok for me! once or twice a year i use a saddle soap.
Our sofa was bought at one of those stock clearance places. Should have been £3500 at a well know sofa place but we paid £499 as it had white patches to the back of the sofa. As the backs go up the wall and no one can see it I think we got a bargainAs with everything else in our house it is only temporary until the kids and cats have grown up so I suppose it was worth the gamble for us on not using the correct products.
We have had sofa 4 years and no probs so HTH0 -
