Greenbee - You know I would help if I could but resolving that is way out of my league. I know what I would do as an employer, but as an employee your only option really is a formal grievance citing the appropriate bits of law so they can look it up. My honest advice is to run for the hills. I always, always bend over backwards to support any employee who may fall under the DDA, including those with depression. Shocks me that anyone who works in HR can not know what it is or fails to comply given the potentially unlimited compensation. Yes you could sue, but word gets round sadly. ETA I can look up the bits of law/cases to quote if that helps but I am NOT a specialist in this area?
Grateful - my tuppenyworth. I am the middle child of five, my sisters are 10 and 8 years younger than me. I hardly knew them because of the age gap. I also have SSs who were 11 and 8 when DS1 was born, rapidly followed by DS2. It is very hard to find things to do that don't bore someone because of the big gap! It is also expensive to go anywhere with everyone which strains the budget rather. The method I use is to toss a coin. If I am disapointed (sp?) by the outcome then I know what my decision I really wanted.
Not a huge amount done today beyond DW and WM. Took the boys to the pound shop for halloween tat this morning and to the cinema this afternoon - both of which they thoroughly enjoyed. Really must get on with something productive......'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -

To everyone having difficulties at work with DDA (greenbee) and low performance scores (sexym) and anyone else at all has my sympathies. What we would give for a simple day at work to breeze through well and then not have any additional worries about work. That's Christmas presents sorted then...Greenbee - hun - what is the issue? Is it the chair and the fact you can't work from home or what?
They're making a huge deal out of everything... and want my GP to make a judgement about whether I can fly for 9.5 hours or whether I need to break the journey or fly business class - she, understandably, says its a work issue so down to occupational health. And I'm in pain, so I'm short-tempered!Greenbee - You know I would help if I could but resolving that is way out of my league. Thanks... I think the problem is that they are clueless  And I'm getting frustrated by the time that it is taking at the fact that they are making such a big deal out of it when it should be straightforward. If they'd been complying with legislation I could have declared it in writing during the recruitment process and then they could have done all the medical reports/occ health stuff during my gardening leave! I've done some research, but at the end of the day, they don't seem to understand that all I want is for them to make it possible for me to work effectively as quickly as possible and avoid any impact on my health (which surely they can work out means I'll be more productive for them!).
I'm not sure I've got the energy to look for something else right now - but I've been here nearly a month, so I've got two months to decide before my probationary period finishes.0 -
