Well sadly dogs don't realise that and so chew out of frustration at being left alone while the pack is out hunting at Tesco.
I have tried telling my dog that its a dog and we are different species but she still insits on sitting on the sofa sharing my biscuits.

I have never had a dog chew out of frustration because I have gone shopping and therefore left them out of a " pack " activity. They are canines - Im a human - we are not of the same pack and cant be0

But as I said, try explaining that one to a dog and your just get a blank look.0 -

You go to work and then go to the pub - so how many hours a day (minus time when you are asleep/preparing meals/otherwise engaged) does he have your attention?
It's also a little worrying that you have a Guinea Pig cage (presumably with GP/s in it) in the same room. This must be so frustrating for a hunting dog like a Beagle. This initially read to me as if Raksha was suggesting that the dog was on it's own most of the day because the OP daily made a practice of going to the pub direcly after work! How can a question be critical?
I was seeking the clarification you wanted me to as I was aware we probably didn't have the full story. Thanks to the OP for updating us.
I really don't wish to get into an argument as I am completely willing to accept that you did not mean your OP as I read it. At least three people on this thread cannot see what I and Lass mean, and at least three (including a PM I received) did view the post as jumping to conclusions. So the following paragraph is purely written to answer your question not to say that I am right and you are wrong.
Half of your first sentence (in bold) is a statement which may be construed as critical as Lass explained, only the second half is a question. The question may therefore be seen as leading or assumptive, as you opted to make it part of the same sentence as the statement.
Parts of the second and third sentence (again in bold) also makes assumptions and might be viewed in a negative light. Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Really!!!
When a poster like Raksha, who gives such excellent helpful advice, who keeps out of the usual general siding of posters on this forum gets slated for asking the most basic of information before coming forward with her usual very helpful and to the point help - theres no hope for this forum at all0 -

As I said, my previous post was an explanation of how I initially read Raksha's post because she asked "how can a question be critical?". If you want to take that as me slating Raksha when I clearly stated that I was willing to accept there was no criticism intended then please report me to abuse. I even used the embarassed and confused smilies to make it abundantly clear that I wasn't being unpleasant.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

But then its all subjective isnt it?
What one person finds as critical, another just sees as getting clarification
Personally I find reading past posting history really helpful on getting an idea on a persons posting style. Theres been a few members here who have come across as extremely rude to some people, yet read their posts on other boards and you see they are just blunt with what they say. Their advice is no less for their bluntness, its just their way.
I really didnt see Raksha or myself being in anyway critical of the OP, and tbh Ive never seen Raksha give anything but good sound advice0 -

It absolutely is subjective, which is pretty much what I said earlier.

4) I work Mon-Fri and my husband works Wed-Mon so there are 4 days a week where he is not crated at all during the day. We dont really go out more than twice a month so most of the time its night only. He is walked twice a day, i play tug/fetch for 30+mins a night and then he is pretty much asleep on me.
My friend had a similar problem with his 3 Malamutes and it was all resolved with lots of exercise, he had a bmx/chariot built and goes dog sledding around the north yorks moors.
Dare I say you might benefit from trying a couple of Cesar Milans technique, getting on your skates and taking him more much more energetic walks or stick him on a treadmill, which is more suited to the breed. Or buy him a doggy backpack and give him a job to do, after all he is a working hound.0
