  • I enjoyed 'Strictly' last night but was very surprised that Craig wasn't in the dance off. I assumed Joe would be safe with all those women fancying him. Am glad he has gone though, he IS the worst dancer.
Definitely the worse dancer. I'm glad he went too- do women fancy him? Not my type, nice chap though. I love Natalie C and Ricky G but they're not the best dancers and I really feel that the best dancers should win so I don't vote. Really enjoying it although very annoyed that the freesat box was unable to cope with the delayed start and recorded 7 mins of Duffy and nothing else:rolleyes: So dd will have to catch up on iplayer.

Have just made some hummus which is very nice with a touch of smoked paprika. Have also boiled some eggs for sandwiches. These will form the lunchboxes tomorrow-egg sarnies for ds2 and OH and hummus pittas for ds1 and dd.

Will be making a pasta dish with a big tin of pilchards in tomato sauce for lunch. These have been in the cupboard a while. I'm convinced that the kids won't like them but have decided to bite the bullet and give them a go.

Supper will be braised pork and quince with mash, carrots and kale. Wish I hadn't bought a big bag of kale as I'm the only one who will eat it and tbh I'd rather have peas:rolleyes: If only I'd gone to the farmshop last week I could have bought a handful of kale instead of a big bag. Will be going tomorrow for my veg, eggs and milk all of which are cheaper than the supermarket;)

I made some little chocolate creams for pud yesterday, managed to get 13 little ramekins so I have 8 left. We will each have another tonight then the kids can finish them tomorrow.

The Management has informed me that we need to tighten our belts for Christmas if we are to continue overpaying the mortgage. I suggested he cut my housekeeping money but he thinks I should just try and save some each week. Easier said then done, I'd manage better if I had less to start with -if I haven't got it I can't spend it. I shall give it a go though and have made a frugal list for tomorrow's shop and a meal plan to match which I will post on the meal plan thread.

    Have a peaceful Sunday everyone:)

Thriftlady - nearly 40 years ago a very good friend who'd lived in India introduced us to curry made with pilchards! We forgot about it for ages and ages, but I found pilchards in the supermarket a few months ago and pilchard curry is back on our regular list!

Amazingly the kids ate the pilchard pasta! Not destined to be a favourite but at least tolerated. Curry sounds like a good idea Beemuzed;)

    Good afternoon everyone :hello:

Just had some carrot & corriander soup (yellow sticker) for lunch, which was washed down by a blueberry muffin.

DH and I spent this morning cleaning, so we're now living in a shiny clean house. If we're going to move though, I'll have to attack the cooker. It's not filthy, don't get me wrong, but it's one of those jobs that needs attacking and I dread doing.... Any tips please? :)

I've got some chilli con carne out of the freezer that DH made a while ago, so that'll be our supper. However, there's so much in the tub that it will do us for a couple of days. Saves me from thinking what to get out the freezer for tomorrow!

Right, time to get on. Bye all.

Had a restless night so feeling a bit groggy this morning. I was disturbed by a dream that Donnygal came to visit unnanounced and blocked our road with her huge campervan. :D It seems she was on the run after killing a vicar.:confused::o:D God alone knows what that means.

Think you are safe - H-J I have only been to Scotland twice, with my parents camping, eons ago, and on our return had to take the wheels off the car to float home. Drove through the Trossacks, but never saw them due to mist. DH had similar experiences, so we have decided it isn't for us. We don't have a huge campervan,, just a normal sized touring caravan towed by the car, as for killing a vicar, well though DH may be at risk from time to time, not sure I would be killing anyone apart from verbally!! Maybe wishful thinking, depending who the vicar was:confused::confused::beer::j:T:A:D

Sorry to be MIA, it really has been too nice to be inside, apart from Friday when it poured all day, I got the ironing done and made a Cottage Pie. Yesterday we treat ourselves to a herby chicken, today we will have the remainder of the CP with baked beans to make enough to go round as DH had seconds!!

SCD not quite hitting with me this year, as you say no-one really stands out and the non-dancers not being taken out, though glad Joe went this week though. Try to catch XF but DH is not a fan and out here only one TV/room so try to watch things we both enjoy. Enjoying Autumnwatch and uncut on Friday evenings. Enjoyed some of the gymnastics as well. Will catch the GP later, maybe eat while on.

    Hope Noel is feeling better.

M-M - strange when the kids go (or in my case kid), but surprising how quickly you find it weird when they come home and cause chaos. ((hugs))

    Afternoon folks

Back from another weekend in the caravan and think that we may only have one or two away at most now for the rest of the year as it is freezing in the mornings and although the 'van has heating still think we are at the end of us going for a while. Had a great weekend though.

Have never stopped since I got back at lunchtime, have cooked a huge pan of bolognaise (bulked out with grated carrot) for tea tomorrow and feezing batches. Also made chicken, roasties, broccoli and cauli in cheese sauce and swede and carrot for lunch which we have just finished. Also made a big pan of carrot and coriander soup for lunches during the week. Carrots are figuring quite heavily in our diet at the moment due to them being so cheap in Morrisons just now!:rotfl:

Think I may just relax for a few hours now with a coffee and my Mark Billingham book! Might also get chance to read back to see what I have missed since friday.

((((Hugs)))) to those who need or want them, welcome to any newbies and congratulations to anyone celebrating!

    Have a restful Sunday all

    Good afternoon everyone

Been a bit more active today, a spicy fruit loaf in BM, mopped all floors downstairs, done a bit more sorting, got case out of loft as I go away next saturday for a week to Cyprus (can't wait). Just need to iron everything that I am taking! Went out to a local charity barn sale for an hour but there was nothing there that I needed so restrained from spending any money.

Dinner is just for me so will probably be tuna and pasta I think.I want to make a weetibix cake later and some twinks hob nobs for packed lunches this week.

Hugs to anyone who needs or wants one.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

    Evening all

These weekends fly by far too quickly! Have managed to catch up on the washing, have sorted/ironed all work clothes for the whole week and done a fortnight's menu plan (bet it doesn't work, something is bound to disrupt it!). Tried making some flapjacks today with value muesli and dried chopped apricots - tasty but a bit crunchy/overcooked. OH seems to like them though.
Dinner tonight is YS beef with roasties, yorkshire pud, broccoli, carrots, peas. Pudding is fruit jelly with the last of the strawberries and raspberries from the garden. The raspberries are autumn fruiting ones but I was really surprised to find a couple of strawberries on new little plants that had grown on the runners this year.

    Have a good evening everyone.

    Hi everyone :hello:

Been busy this weekend so only basic weekend washing, ironing and roast dinner done.

I'm doing the annual electoral canvas for the local council. I've done it for the last 5 years now and the extra money comes in handy for Christmas. It also means I get an excuse to go out for some fresh air and much needed exercise.

Plenty of food in the freezer to keep us going & I'll be making use of the slow cooker this week.

Hope everyone's well! (((Hugs))) for those in need.

    Hi everybody,

Been a rather busy day here to-day...had to have a decent lunch as we had a cousin....ended up with chicken vegetable soup, steak, peas, mushrooms, onions, potatoes and blackberry and apple sponge with custard...haven't felt the need to eat a bite since! The steaks were so big that I think we have enough to have for dinner to-morrow.

Left my bag in DD4's yesterday and took some washing to do for her, she can't get her washing machine to work, obviously something simple but one of the DSs will have to be called on.. went to collect bag and deliver washing but didn't delay as she and DGS were busy cooking pancakes.

Mioliere....poor OH, hope that his hand is better soon....if you were here your visit to A&E would have cost you €100, and you would have to pay the first €100 for medication without getting anything except tax back on it.

    NPM...hope that Noah is improving.

Jayne and George....hugs to you both.

    Beemuzed....glad that you enjoyed Dublin.

Hugs to all in need or want, welcome to any newbies and congratulations to all who are celebrating....someone is 12 years married to-day, can't remember who, the mind is definitely going!
