    Hello :hello:

Yeah, a thread for me! I was Icing (hello low carbers) but fell off the wagon. Now I am following the "my body is a temple diet" -i.e no diet in particular but trying to eat healthy foods avoiding sugar and processed carbs. I'm trying to think about the food I'm stuffing, i mean putting into my face rather than comfort eating foods that ultimately have no nutritional value (Mmmm cheesy wotsits) and make me sick.

Anyhoo, I'm off to read the previous posts now - just thought I'd show my face.:) X

But can I just say, being at an ideal weight is not the holy grail. I cannot say that the happiest times of my life are not when I've been my most slim. Usually the times I lose most weight are my most unhappy times (but weight loss feels like a consolation!!)

Is fat still a feminist issue?

But we know more about diet and health now so I like to think it's more about a health point of view. We want to live a healthy old age.

    I favour a paleolithic approach.

    Regards

Jeez alias, what have you started, i go to work for a few hours and i get three pages to catch up on, theres a lot of us baddies out there!!

Agree with sarah, stick to lc all week, one moment of weakness and its all undone :( and back to square one.

Loads i wanted to reply to but just cant remember them all.

To the poster thats doing tesco 'slimfast' try the bodybuilders protein shakes, they're lc so no sugar, quite delish and much cheaper.

I've been good all day, then stressed to hell in work so i had a snickers, which opened the floodgates and i scoffed like mad before thinking i'll start back tomorrow :o

Dont know whether to just go back to good old fashioned calorie counting.
When you get a moment of weakness just count it in, you've had your treat and dont feel the need to 'eat everything coz i've blown it now'.

    I am rather confused atm.

Also agree with CWR, the UK just aint geared up to lc, whereas America is.

I've seen lots of lc items disappear from supermarket shelves, tesco used to sell lc ketchup amongst other things, and wouldnt it be nice to go out and have a nice, proper lc meal instead of just a bl**dy salad.

To alias and i think bubby? mixing lc with SW just wont work, SW is low fat, so any fat laded items come out of your daily syns count, so you will need low fat yogurt as opposed to high fat on lc, also butter, cheese etc must be very limited, i'm afraid its either the limited carbs of SW or the fat of lc :(

SW is quite lc, with all lean meat and fish allowed ( on red days) all fruit and most veg except spuds, parsnips etc, also grains are very limited (from daily allowance) but things like chocs are allowed (from syn allowance) as is alcohol, i used to live off my basic daily allowances, and save all my syns til the weekend and have a good drink to look forward to, or.. have a bottle of wine every other night :)
    I lost 22lb doing that :)

Oh, i remembered, hypnotherapy... a girl i have been working with is training to be a therapist and hypnotherapist, told her she can practice on me anytime, will give her my number, what an experience i'll be for her, every type of problem rolled into one [STRIKE]little [/STRIKE] large package :D

Will keep you posted folks :)

Still thinking about dieting, cant sleep :(

As i said, might give calorie counting a go for a few weeks and see how i go.
At least i can have a plate of chips if i really fancy them, and promise myself that bar of choc the next day, or choose wine instead.
Lost quite a bit doing that in the past, but wasn't insulin resistant then mind.

Decisions decisions... why cant i just scoff all day and be slim like i used to be :(

But... i always ate a good meal, never picked between meals, and never wanted dessert, and was much more active :o

Oh the joys of being 50 plus!!

On the other side of the coin, my slimmest times have been my happiest. I've had much more confidence, been more outgoing and joined in with a lot more things. I now have a body suitable for couch surfing and a level of confidence to match.

Whilst I do think about my old age and whether I'll be fit or not, by far and large my main concern is my life now and it's depressing how much of it is passing me by because of my weight. Which is why I simply don't understand why I can't just do something about it once and for all.
