Cat died suddenly last night

Yesterday evening I let my cat out he was fine, five minutes later I opened the upstairs window and he was lying on the path, I called down to him and he didn't move. I rushed downstairs and he was dead.
He was 5 years old, he was lying there as if he had just fallen over dead. I am really shocked and think it must have been a heart attack.

I'm sorry to hear that
If you want to know for sure you know you can ask your vet for a necropsy? I don't know how much that costs etc but I know I'd want to know for sure what the cause was...

So sorry to hear that, what a shock for you and how sad that you lost your pet.... just a thought but there are an awful lot of fireworks about at the moment just wonder wether he got shocked by one which brought on a heart attack...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Ah, I'm so sorry. It sounds like he went very quickly & painlessly, though - better than a drawn-out illness, in all honesty. I'm sure he had a wonderful life & that you will always be in his heart, wherever he has travelled on to.0

I know how heartbreaking this can be as I lost one of my darlings in exactly the same way. There was no sign of injury but I suspect she may have been hit by a car somehow despite living on a cul-de-sac with speed bumps directly near where I found her. In the end I was grateful that it was quick but I was inconsolable at the time, so I know how you must be feeling.0

Ted was only 7 when he keeled over right in front of me.
Took less than half a minute between falling & drawing his last breath.
It happens sometimes.
Hugs to you, I know how sad & shocking it is.0 -

Thank you. The thing is the suddenness, I have had a cat run over before and it feels very like that. We lost another cat in february at 3 to cancer and am feeling a bit shell shocked as we hadn't had one die in 13 years before this spring and now 2 of my adored feline family in 9 months (1 has gone missing, but I suspect he found a new home that gave him Tuna instead of cat food!)0

I am so sorry to hear your sad news ... it is always a shock when pets, who haven't openly been ill, pass away like that.
I had the same happen with one of mine and to this day I wish I had let the vet investigate to see what the cause had been.0
