    This one....

    Warning!

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my money on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people's gardens
    And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Some fab ideas here!!! You're spoilt for choice Rusty ;)

How about a mug with one of greenpixeys crocheted mug cosies.
A framed pic of your mum as a girl.
A coin minted the year she was born.
A book/scrapbook with info about the year and day your mum was born - what was in the news, number one single, price of things like bread and milk (compared to price now), average price of a house. Could also include things about her - meaning of her name, info about her star sign, info about where she lived when she was born...

This will tell you how old you are in days, hours, minutes, seconds etc... http://www.mathcats.com/explore/age/calculator.html

Sounds like a fab gift missus :D

  • if you run low on money or ideas, you could go for a few of these in a little bag with ribbon and a tag with the reason behind the item written on and count them seperately maybe...
(just copied these from a crafty website)

    Getting Old Kit
    Small box of Bran Flakes

Alarm Whistle - for when you've fallen and you can't get up

Magnifying Glass - to help you when you read

Cane (a candy cane will do the trick)

While you were Napping Pad - so you don't miss any messages while you are napping (I made these on the computer also, and then padded them)

Toothpicks - to help prop your eyes open so you don't fall asleep

Rubberband - to give you your flexibility back

Aspirin -for all the new little aches and pains

Pack of seeds * to thank you for helping me grow into what I am today

A clock * thank you for always finding time for me

Battery * to thank you for all the times you never gave up, you kept going and going

Candle * thank you for being my *guiding light*

Tea Bag * so you can sit back and relax once in a while

Fireball * for times when you are burnt out

Eraser * to remind you that everyone makes mistakes. That*s okay, we learn by them
A bag * to help you keep it all together

some of them are a bit cringey, but you could use a few maybe :)
It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'
