Photographers..how much you paying and what are you getting for it?!

That works out as one photo being taken per photographer every 36 seconds, not counting any formal shots you might want, or a photographer wanting the toilet or something to drink.2 photographers, 4 hours, all hi res shots on disc (around 800) for £300.
Are you worried that might compromise on quality/variation?0 -
We're not having a professional. One of our guests who is a good friend, and fiance of one of my best friends is I suppose you would say a keen amateur but he's had work published in books and been in exhibitions and he's got all the professional equipment, and knows how to use it.
The two reasons we've asked him are obviously MSE (he didn't ask for anything, but we've offered to pay for his hotel for both nights for the wedding) and equally importantly my OH hates having his photo taken and will feel far more comfortable with someone we know than a stranger, no matter how good they are at being unobtrusive, and I want OH to be comfortable.
Our friend will do us a disc and an album, and of course we will have full copyright, and he will be doing photos from getting ready through to the last dance.0 -
Half Pint: We're so grateful to him that were now thinking of giving him a bit extra, plus we're going to feed him and give him unlimited drinks through the day (which wasnt in our original contract).Green and White Barmy Army!0

£700:
6 hours' worth of coverage by two photographers.
A disc of all images (they estimate 800) with copyright given to us.
Our own hardback storybook album,
4 'parent' albums (small hardback 6x4 books) - we've doubled the original number given.
The choice of either 500 individual prints (6x4) or 100 larger prints (9x6).
The option is there to swap items around for other books/albums and in fact we can be as flexible as we choose up to and for a few days after the event.
I met them today and was very impressed with their work (and have extensively researched photographers on the 'net to date), so will be booking them up this week. All my other local photographers are quoting in excess of £1k for similar or even lesser packages.0 -
Ours is £595. 10 10x8, 150 7x5 pics, all corrected and edited, engagement shoot which includes a 16x24 pic mounted with border for people to sign, and 3 10x8 pics of the shoot.

As a wedding photographer this would seriously annoy me! Check with your photographer first to make sure they are ok with it.It all works out good in the end.If it's not good, it's not the end!0 -
We're paying £350 for the "digital only" package and he will literally stay as long as we like... all day if we want.
He travels too and charges very reasonable rates to do so.
He can also do albums and prints etc.
We think its a steal as his work looks good.0 -

Hmmm not that i mean to sound nasty but the photographer is being paid for a service...and the guest is there as a guest who happens to want to also take photos. I doubt that the guest will LITERALLY take the same photo and stand directly behind the professional...but if they do, so be it!! A photographer doesn't have rights which prohibit other people from taking photo's in a public place at someones wedding. So really, even if it annoys the photographer, it doesn't matter one jot in my opinion as they are just doing their job and being paid handsomely for it!!
(sorry if that sounds harsh!!)Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?0 -
My photographer is charging £440. He will be there from 2pm until 9pm and I get 50 prints and all images on a disk. He's fab and is going to the venue this week to work out where he will be taking the formal shots as it will be dark when we get married and won't be able to do them outside. xxMarried the most amazing man 05/12/09 and it was the best day ever, I'm a Mrs, he he!!:jWins 2009: Peroni Alessi bowl woohoo, 1 in 10 wins DVD from Maltesers, Avon lippy!!!Freebies-Bold Gel, CoffeePinecone Research - £9Mystery Shopping - £150

Don't be ridiculous :rotfl:
They don't just point and shoot the once.
Something they want to capture they may take 10 shots to make sure they have it right.
Or do you think they take one click of everything and hope that nobody has blinked/sneezed etc? :rolleyes:Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0
