The Evils of Heating!!

I love the heating. OH hates it. My Mum always used to say 'go and put a jumper on if you are cold'!! The annoying thing is, it's been so cold here that I've had my heating on for a couple of hours every night recently.A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.
one life, live it!0 -

GreyPilgrim wrote:I do feel a bit guilty about the heating thing deep down. I'm quite a big guy, and that combined with coming from the North East, means I have a really low heat threshold, so I make the family suffer a bit. I hate summertime, don't handle the heat well at all and the ideal move for me would be somewhere like Alaska. I'd probably still keep the windows open.
Whenever I see warnings on the news about global warming, I get panic attacks and think life is going to become unbearably moist and sticky, but then when I watch movies like 'the day after tomorrow' which say global warming will switch the warm currents away from europe and push us into an ice age, I just think "aaaahhhh....nice....."
I think you and I are related! Maybe we were twins separated at birth (except I'm from the South West).
I know exactly what you mean about panicking.....you might think this is horrible of me to say, but somehow it doesn't look so awful when a man is sweating profusely.....but when it's a woman it is simply awful. Especially when it makes your hair go totally limp because your head is sweating and your face is puce and feels like it's about to explode:oOh what a delightful picture that conjures up!!!
Please do not panic too much though.......I'm a bit of a meteorologist on the quiet and am 99.9 (recurring)% positive that our part of the world (NW Europe) has been on a cooldown during the past 2/3 years.....all part of a natural cycle kindly provided by Mother Nature. All part of climate change.....other parts of the world are heating up but we are cooling down. If I am wrong I will eat my hat, even after it has been on my sweaty head!:snow_grin"Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow........":snow_grin0 -
my OH has chronic asthma and central heating is one of the worst triggers... so we only have a gas fire in the living room. It's bl**dy freezing all year round! I sit in slippers, jumper, fleece, etc. right next to the fire dreading having to go to the toilet as it's below freezing in the bathroom! and that's just the summer...
and I though I was pretty hardcore, living oop north and all... my parents are both from the north east so I've had my fair share of freezing holidays by the sea! think going to uni in Notts and having heating on far too much has turned me into a bit of a southern softy!
great thread btw...:money: 2007 is the year to clear :money:

I was always led to believe that ladies didn't sweat, they glowed!!ceegee wrote:Please do not panic too much though.......I'm a bit of a meteorologist on the quiet and am 99.9 (recurring)% positive that our part of the world (NW Europe) has been on a cooldown during the past 2/3 years.....all part of a natural cycle kindly provided by Mother Nature.

aaah, South Shields!! Love it!! That's where all my family live!! Love going up to visit!! I live right down south and they always call me a southern softie! Although must say that I am the kind of person that will just put extra layers on if I'm cold. And I like to have fresh air so have the window open mostly.
My nan dislikes coming to visit in the summer, says it's far too hot!! And it's only mildly warm by our reckoning down here!!!:rotfl:Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j

I can remember walking to school in really deep snow..these softy southerners cease to function at the hint of a snowflake!![/QUOTE]
you are so right a flake of snow our busses stop running the airport shut the school shut and everyone leaves work in a blind panic only to sit on the m1 for hours still we are good with rain thoughi cant slow down i wont be waiting for you i cant stop now because im dancing0 -
Not all softy southerners live in cities or even somewhere not the back of beyond! Some do live in rural areas where if you get a lot of snow thats it - you're not going anywhere - i remember the winds of '87 as well - not funny! Did get me a day of school though as the trees were in the road - my mum still phoned and checked that the school was going to be closed - did she want to get rid of me or something!0
