It has been a manic (and v v expensive weekend.....grrr) but never mind a birthday only comes once a year thank god.....OH thinks throwing money at people makes them happy.....

It was good to see outlaws but even nicer to spend time with DS...who has been stripped of his clothes cos he was starting to smell a little ripe...:rotfl:

Funny my OH is the same...where as I think a nice hand made gift or the offer of doing something like cooking or a day out for a suprise walk is much nicer

We went for a meal and he wanted to pay which was okay cos I had budgeted for it....(£150 for seven!) but he wanted to pay for the hotel they were staying in....fine but it was their choice to stay in a hotel when we have a spare room going begging and the train tickets for them to come down (cos SIL is banned from driving).....

    It totally stresses me out...

I love making chicken stock / chicken soup from the carcass. After a two hour low simmer with about a litre of water, onion, carrot, celery and a dash of ground pepper or a couple of peppercorns (I don't use salt apart from on the path if it's icy) I end up with a lovely thick jellified stock. To strain it I usually just pass the liquid through a seive. I've used the stock to make chicken soup, chicken risotto, chicken casserole, soups... all sorts of delicious things!

I am trying to avoid thinking how much we're overspending whilst I'm on mat leave and just how big our debt will be in three month's time:eek::eek::eek:. I think I need a blooming stiff drink!
