Egg loan PPI

HI All,

My wife took oiut an egg loan for £2000 that only has a few months left on it with around £490 as the balance. I have just noticed that she has PPI on it costing £350ish.

What would be the best course of action if any? Should I get her to just phone and cancel the PPI or try to claim for misselling?

Any helpvery much appreciated. If they knocked the £350 off the balance I would clear the remainder in a single payment.
I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Ramada/Days Inn BRG thread.

    Hi there

If your wife was mis sold the PPI for any reason then yes she can try to reclaim and cancel if she does not require this.

I would do so in writing though, and keep all copies of letters, in case you have to refer to them later on.

Information on reclaiming with useful information on Martin's link, included with templates etc, here below, however if you require any help, please post up. Good luck.

  • Hi,

No answer from egg yet but i did the same with Northern Rock who have sent me a questionaire (sp) back to fill in asking what PPI I had and was it my first purchase of it etc.

Should I fill it in or not? Don't want to mess up my claim

( I had a loan with NR and when I phoned to cancel PPI they said I had to take out a new loan to pay off the old. Not thinking I agreed. This was about 2 years ago. I used one of the template letters that covered this scenario)

  • if you look at my thread I had PPI and after great help from DI wrote to them and got sent cheques for the best part of £2.5K now taken it to the FOS and that have said i do have a justified case for misselling. need to write to them, there are templates on this form that im sure DI will point you in the right direction of, as I cant remember where they are?

Its up to you if you fill in the questionnaire or not but just to advise you this is something they are now doing more and more and it is supposed to "help" in complaints more than not. I would only really fill in the bits that you know for sure though. You can leave it and send them a letter to cover you saying you would like your complaint looking into without the form being filled in as they should have had this information when you took out the loan. Good luck

I think I'll send the letter as knowing me I will put something on there that they will call a technicality

  • yeah fill it in but hold back any information you are not 100% sure about just go over what you have already gone over nothing more?

yeah mine was definately mis-sold as they sent me cheques for all accounts with them, I wanted to get FOS involved because it felt as if they were getting away with it far too easily and kept hold of my money and they have gained the interest, in turn leaving me to source bad credit

  • Hi all, had no letters from egg but just checked the bank and there are two credits there, one of £610 saying PPI and one of £200ish saying PPI interest. I am assuming this is to do with egg as it says merseyside by the credits and I think that is where I wrote the letters. Anyway, I shall await some letters explaining the credits and how they calculated them. Thats xmas more than sorted now.

I'll keep you updated about NR

    Hi there

    Did you accept the amounts?
Or was this paid into your account unexpected sort of thing?

Fingers crossed, and look forward to hearing the details on this when you receive your letter, good luck.;)

  • Hi,

It was just paid into the bank. I was checking to see if something had gone out and the amounts were there. I'm not touching them until I get some letters with breakdowns of figures
