Well a potential mindee and her mum visited and were here for over an hour! Her daughter was really reluctant to leave!! Hope that stands me in good stead. She's going to let me know one way or another so cross your fingers that she chooses me. House was a tip and it was lunchtime for the kids (although H took care of that ;)) - but I had warned her on the phone to takes me as she finds me - it is a Saturday after all!

Only just finished my lunch, I was soooooo ready for it!

I want to make a chicken and leek pie (well cook the contents in the SC not the pastry) so need to scout around for a suitable receipe in a bit.

Bargainbird - how awful? How can they possibly leave it hanging like that for so long......
Haribo - I am sure those child free days will fly by and they'll be back before you know it ;)
Nordictat2 - hope your poorly tum is better soon x
NPM - hope Noah is feeling better asap. Its such a pain to have work get narky when you have to have time off - it's not as if your recent time off was a bundle of laughs

<shivers> goodness it's gone cold now the suns gone in. Better go and make DD put her socks back on.......
    Enjoy your Saturday evening.....

    Hi everyone,

Just having a cuppa,so having a catch up on here. After walking the dog,DH and I called at my DB2,he's 50 next week, but they are being away for the actual day so needed to take his card and pressie.Stayed longer than intended, but it gave us chance to have a natter, and me to see my lovely DN.

Went to the market after and picked up some nice meat bargains. We know a young woman who works there so always tend to use that stall. The owner did us a good deal as we bought quite a bit-some to freeze for Xmas.I've chatted to the owner before and some of the stuff is quite local, and the rest usually British.DH had to go to the cashpoint after though.

Went to Lidl to stock up on greek yogurt, then came home.I was just putting everything away when the doorbell rang it was the local Police CSO-they are setting up a database of people in the local area so that theycan inform them of any local issues, and he's given us his email so we can let him know if we're going to be away,or any probs.Sounds a good idea.

Enjoyed the OS programme last night,as others have said ,it was too short, they only just scraped the surface of OS ways :D

Hugs to those who need one.Take care.x

  • Afternoon all

I am rather hungover today :o Last night 6 of my friends that I met at Camp America last summer came down here for a night out for another friend's birthday. We had booked a travelodge in city centre as it was only £35/room and some people needed to get early trains home. We went to the birthday boy's house first for a party and then headed to the student union bar. I felt ever so slightly old, as I'm 27, and they are all 20-22, but we had a fantastic night!! We went for early lunch this morning then I drove the 20mins home. And have been camped out of the sofa ever since. Feeling slightly more alive now after a nap.

I plan on very little OS today other than washing dishes. I need to pack a suitcase as I'm away Sunday- Friday on a course for work. But I have most of stuff ready to put in it. I won't have internet access next week so no MSE  Please don't forget about me!

Going to have a takeaway for tea. Can't decide between indian or pizza yet though.

    Have a good day all

  • Just waiting for OH to get showered after work to take Noah down to the GP co operative...they have given him 6pm appointment. They think it is Swine flu and he has been given a number for Tamiflu...I want them to see him though as am not happy with his condition. He has slept on sofa all day and is asleep there again now. Temp high despite Calpol, cough. watery diarrhoea and now vomiting, keeps saying everything is spinning and looks grey. Am not happy having him diagnosed on the phone as he is not well at all and is only 6 after all.
Am mulling over the Tamiflu situation in children:think:

    evening all!

NPM - I do hope Noah is soon on the mend x

    Happy Birthday ageandjo:beer:

PP - hope you're on the mend too x

have had a lovely day out with DH. We went to Hereford to a carboot and I got some more books to add to the pile by my bed:D then after a picnic lunch we went to Malvern and did a bit of shopping and I bought some hand warmers from an army surplus store and a scarf from Matalan.
We also bought some Christmas goodies from M&S to put away - shortbread biscuits and a cake that were all on offer.

Tonight I'm looking forward to SCD. Tea is quorn sweet and sour with noodles for me and a chicken stir fry for DH as DS2 is out I think at a sausage and cider dance. It had been the Applefest in our local town today but we decided not to go as it gets really busy.

    I hope you're all enjoying the lovely sunshine(if you've got it:D)
    Do what you love :happyhear

OOh OOh i forgot MIL gave me her SC :T not used it yet, but i have a peice of brisket for tomorrow. Do i just chuck veggies and meat in ? How much water do i use ???

I normally put water about 1/3 of the way up the meat, and chuck in a chopped carrot or 2 and an onion in 1/4's, once cooked, use the liquid to make your gravy, its delish, enjoy xx

NPM, oh poor Noah, let us know how he got on at the GP, I hope he recovers soon, big hugs xx

    :hello:Good evening!

It's been a bit of a funny day. A couple of very drunk people came past at about 4a.m. and one of them rang our doorbell, then they ran off giggling  I couldn't get back to sleep for ages, then when I did, I kept waking again, thinking there was someone knocking the door. The first time it happened, I realised it was just DS, who'd come in very late and promptly gone onto MSN for a couple of hours, finally deciding it was time to go to bed. The other times, of course there was no one there at all, but it meant I finally got up at 9.45 feeling rather hungover, and have kept dozing off in my chair:o

Talking of hangovers, flutterby, I hope yours is better this evening :)

NPM - So sorry to hear Noah is so poorly x

Haribo - Glad you're enjoying the unaccustomed peace and quiet! What a nuisance about the bulbs, though. Could you maybe put some sort of mesh over them, (chickenwire? :D), as recommended for protecting them from squirrels?

Bitsy - Glad your tummy feels a bit better today. I remember in the dim and distant past when I was a student nurse, we had a 12-year-old boy admitted with suspected appendicitis. He was rolling in agony. In the end it turned out to be just trapped wind! I hope that will turn out to be what's causing your pain, rather than anything more serious. It sounds as if your potential mindee really took to you, so good luck with that!

    CRANKY - (((HUGS)))

    Ageandjo - Hope you're having a good birthday x

Penny_Pincher - Hope you are starting to feel a little better.

bargainbird - So sorry to hear the news, that's rotten for you all x

taplady - Glad you've enjoyed your day!

thriftlady - Did you make the ginger cake? I've just eaten the last little bit of the one I made last Saturday :D Might do another banana loaf tomorrow and freeze half of it. It's lovely to feel up to doing a bit of baking. Today's definitely not a cooking day though, dinner is a bought quiche :o Still, onward and upward, as JackieO would say!

Which reminds me JackieO, I hope you were able to collect your bras and are happy with them!

    Bye for now
