    Morning everybody:)

Just waiting for my lot to leave for their sailing course. DS1 is showing some reluctance (still in bed), the other two seem to be full of cold. They had their flu jabs yesterday so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it.

They'll be back for lunch today so I'll have to cook -baked potatoes with cheese and coleslaw I think.

Supper will be pizza with goat's cheese and bacon. I'll make the tomato sauce this afternoon.

I'll also make some kind of cake- River Cottage Everyday ginger cake I think. It's a gingercake kind of day.

There's the usual laundry to do- all the school and work clothes. Should do a bit of ironing as well.

Hugs to all who need one -Jayne and George, Bitsy and your poorly tum and ds worries, Penny Pincher-sorry you had such a rotten time at the hospital the other day:grouphug:
  • MORNING ALL!
Well my osiness today was to be washing-lots, and making some sweet treats for dd's lunch boxes, probably some buns and millionares shortbread which my mum makes but I have not done before. However I have started to tackle the massive mess that one of my cats has made by being sick all over the place. He's often sick but has managed to get it all over some clothes waiting to be ironed, all over the floor and all over, and in, the open tumble drier door-which includes the filter. So I have managed to do most of it, bunged the soiled clothes into the washer and now need to wash the inside of the TD and wash the filter. I've never seen such a mess!!!! Hope I've not put anyone off there breakfast!
Not sure what we are having for tea, I got some haddock but if I don't feel like it I may freeze it-I have to really fancy fish to stomach it.
DD has requested spaghetti hoops for lunch, i'll have a sandwich.
I'm afraid my frugality mission has taken a big hit this week. I have just wanted to spend spend spend. I think its perhaps to try and make myself feel better after the funeral on monday-but it isn't working and now I'm starting to feel a little out of control. Must get a hold of myself.
I hope everyone has a good weekend.
    July grocery- 24.40/220. NSD-1/3.
Myself, DD, 2 cats, 35 weeks pregnant.

    Morning all.

Up bright and early as despite being my day off, had to take DD for her swimming training. Am back to pick her up at 10, no doubt she'll be starving having swum for 2 hours!

Lots of bits and bobs to do this weekend. House is a tip, so some serious tidying up is in order. Usual washing to get done to. Have also promised kids we'd do some baking, as I got a really nice childrens cook book from the Book People. Also have to go to Milton Keynes hospital, as childrens great grandmother got taken in with a broken foot. She has numerous health problems, so I think its the best place for her for a few days to get her sorted out.

Have also got a friend coming to visit, and we need to get all the homework done this weekend! Phew, that should keep us all busy!

NPM - hope Noah feels better soon.

    Good morning :hello:

Have missed the last couple of days so hope everyone is doing ok, will try to catch up later.
At the moment the sun is shining but I don't know if we'll get out on the garden or not. The first plan for the day is to go out and find DD2's birthday present. She's gone off to work this morning with a really painful throat. She started antibiotics yesterday but doesn't feel any better yet.
Today the WM & BM need to go on and I also want to make some soup to use up veg.
Brunch today will be bacon & egg on toast (to use up stale bread), dinner is most likely to be steak as a treat with OH doing the cooking :D . It will be our first evening together since Monday so am looking forward to it.

Have a good day all, (((hugs))) to those who need/want one.

  • Good morning everyone,
Had a good night sleep, because i was sooo tired! and feeling a bit more like me today. I did manage to clear half of the spare [junk!] room yesterday and will finish it today hopefully.Hung some cheapy black fleece blankets in the conservatory and they look pretty good, much to my surprise, i must get some more for the other window and the door, so dunelm will get a visit later :D
Enjoyed the 'thrifty' programme last night, but too short! Wnen i was married, on the farm, we always used the rainwater to wash hair as it was so much softer than the tap water, and in those days , no hair conditioner,[ that dates me!]
Os-iness today is catching up with general cleaning and meals will be freezer surprise with the rest of the apple crumble.
take care and be kind to yourselves

    Morning all

hugs to Jayne and George and anyone else who needs one

I have decided that I might be slightly in love with Nigel Slater after re-reading Real Cooking. It's the only one of his that I have but i've been mostly a very very good girl this year so you never know what Santa might bring me.

DD(13) gone christmas shopping :eek: and dd(24) been sent out to pick up decent binbags and her nephew so I'm Home Alone :T:T:T:T:T am celebrating with a cleaning marathon - bathroom and hallway done - just about to start on the living room.

Mr Beard's ex has decided that she might be up to having their dd(8) back so I have abandoned the search for a cheapy half term caravan for us all and gone back to plan A - a lovely long weekend for two - not going to book anything just yet though even though it's next weekend!

dgs coming over tonight to help look after his Nana - I saw quite a lot of him this week as dd(20) has been a bit unwell and i've been picking up shopping for her after w*rk - that was until thursday when I was informed that "Nana - you don't actually live here you know!"

Tea tonight will no doubt be fridge debris curry
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

    Afternoon everyone :hello:

    Happy Birthday Ageandjo
Hope you had a decent night Jayne. In George's honour I had cake for breakfast again this morning. :D

First of seven child free days here. Missing them already but just keeping myself distracted. Woke up this morning to find OH had decamped to the spare room as apparently I was "snoring like a mad Irish donkey":rolleyes::o:rotfl:So much for romance. :D

Did a massive clean of the house last night as I know with the girls away it might stay that way for a few days. Have shut the door on their bedroom as I think it'll take me a few days to work up to that one.
Made some bread this morning which is rising in the tin and have HM tomato soup for late lunch. Tea is a concoction of baked cod and bacon with HG tomatoes and feta cheese and HG courguette and HG carrots.

Have been in the garden all day so far. Cleaned out the hens who are becoming very friendly but are destroying everything in sight. I'm planting bulbs today but I know they'll pull them out.

    Better get back to it.

    Many Happy Returns Ageandjo

MSD - must admit I am taking echincea without fail this year.

N9eav - thanks again, went to Asda this morning & got loads of steak. Spent about £60 in total but got loads of bargains.

Bargainbird - that is so terrible. Is there a particular reason why it has been adjourned?

Having a break from the ironing, so have a surf and a sit down then will get back on with it in a while :o
