It can vary alot depending on the type of white crown
£300-500 should be about the norm for a private white crown.:money: Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou to everyone who has helped.0 -

I know this is a long shot but have you tried registering with an NHS dentist,
the cost then is less than £200make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

But a white crown won't be done on a back tooth on the NHSHow to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Not quite correct Toothsmith- a white crown is unlikely to be done on the the NHS, but its worth asking as its at the dentists descresion. 99% will say no though.:money: Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou to everyone who has helped.0

My (NHS) dentist has told me I need a crown on L4 or should that be UL4? (it's upper jaw on the left side).
First of all, he's not the best at telling me the full facts, I asked if it would be tooth coloured and he just nodded, he didn't actually say the words "yes it will be". Is it likely to be tooth coloured or is it going to be gold? If it's going to be gold I'm going to have to save up for a few months and go private!
Also from what I've read, you can only be charged for the most expensive treatment for all treatments within a 2 month period - so having been told it is £198 for the crown, and having already paid £17 for the consultation, Is it right that I should only have to pay another £181?
Thanks in advance for any advice!0 -
My treatment plan estimate bill (23/3/09)
Upper right premolar, pinned amalgam core and porcelain jacket crown £181.80 (NHS)
Lower right molar, Core build-up (this was a broken tooth), crown prep and impression, temp crown fit, porcelain bonded crown fit £365 (Private). Was told could only have metal crown on this tooth on NHS.0 -

I just had three this morning! Front 3 upper teeth to replace the original crowns i had 26 years ago cos the metal at the top was starting to show. These new ones are porcelin and the cost was £400 x 3 plus £16:50 scrape and polish.
I have been with the same practise since i was 10 ( 48 now). I thought it was NHS....it seems not though now. Am i right?0 -
