SP Tortilla Chips and the SP Salsa are both really good.

We put a layer of chips on a plate, cover with some of the salsa and top with some grated cheese and pop it in the microwave. Really nice (and cheap!) supper dish and there is enough chips and salsa to do two or three lots :j
Oh yeah, we have used the Salsa dip and Tortilla Chips before and they were gorgeous!

SP instant mash is very good 16p i always bought Smash but this is much nicer.
  • SP Hot Dogs... I wouldn't be surprised if the brine (or whatever they're in) has more meat content than the sausages themselves! Although, the Tortilla Chips are very good... equivalent to all the rest and at most 1/2 the price!

I always buy SP Spaghetti, pasta, beans, noodles, bread (to freeze for toast) apple juice, biscuits, tinned toms, chips, bananas, jam, garlic bread and more but can't think of them!!

I find they are all really good quality, there are a few things I won't get SP but most are good.
  • my kids love the sp rice pudding, so do I. It's only 18p per tin I think abrosea is about 75p

Definitely agree with this. I believe the SP rice pudding is much nicer than any of the other more expensive rice pudding they sell.

    SP noodles are also lovely.

The only other SP item we buy is the pork and liver pate in the transparent tube. Both the cat and I love having it on toast (to be accurate, the cat doesn't eat the toast, she just licks the pate off of my finger).

The SP items that I found to be awful are lemonade / coke and their 'Pot Noddle' replacement.
  • I like most of the SP stuff, especially chicken and meat. Unlike certain other supermarkets I'd buy anything from Asda's value range (except coffee).
  • sp teabags are the best. have always used sp polish, noodles are good, and the cleaning sponges. used to use sp hair conditioner, but just as we started using it, they changed it and now its horrid. use sp tinned fruit aswell.

My friends call me the Smart Price Queen :rotfl:
We probably could stretch to more fancy versions of some of them but I realy dont see the point. I've compared ingredients for additives, salt and sugar and havent seen a massive difference in anything. I'm sure someone will come along and tell me I al wrong though LOL

Here are the SP tems we buy and consume with great success:

    Chocolate and Nut cereal bars
    Strawberry and Yoghurt Cereal Bars
    Rich Tea biscuits
    Bourbon biscuits
Plain Flour (use to make bread as well as cakes etc)
    Fromage Frais for the kids
    Passata
    Tinned tomatoes
    Baked Beans
    Baked Beans and Sausages
    Fruit cocktail
Noodles (we are veggie but we just use the noodles and not the sachet)
    Bananas
    Apples
    Pears
    Carrots
    Peppers
    Family Stir Fry Mix
    Orange juice
    Fruit and Fibre breakfast cereal
    Porridge
    Cottage Cheese
    Ready salted crisps
Part baked petit pain style bread
    Pancakes
    Crumpets
    Laundry detergent powder
    Cartons of orange juice

My poor kids have Smart Price lunchboxes - fromage frais, juice and crisps. Thankfully they are still too young to have the mickey taken but I expect its inevitable.

Thas all I can think of, will add more as I remember it

The one thing we didnt get on with was Rice Crispies, they were vile and even when I mixed them in with normal ones the kids still wouldn't eat them.
Oh and their cheap bin bags are definitely a false economy, we had to double bag each time.

  • I really don't like the SP range in general, much prefer Sainsbury's Basics, but I have to recommend the SP tinned spaghetti hoops- which are AMAZING!
  • I agree about the rice crispies, yuck yuck yuck!
forgot to add bags of fruit and mixed peppers!
