Asda Smart Price - Good/Bad items

Hi,

Following the success of the Sainsbury's post on good/bad items thought it might be worth having a Asda one for those who don't have a Sainsbury's nearby..

I personally have not tried much from their range however one product I love is :-

Smart Price ready salted crisps - these are so lovely and I always pick some up when I go, although don't have Asda near me

I think the smart price noodles are great, and also their soups - especially vegetable. I always buy their biscuits aswell, the cookies and chocolate digestive are really nice and the fruit shortcake biscuits are to die for! I use quite a lot of Smart Price tinned food - beans spaghetti macaroni cheese too which are all good. I think all Smart Price food is quite good generally.
  • I buy SP tinned sausages and beans, baked beans, hot dogs,
skimmed milk, cheese slices, and savoury rice. IMO, they are all ok.

I've never boughts crisps as I always imagine you'd only get a few in a bag and I'm a greedy pig LOL.

Would be interested to see what other people like/dislike.

Forgot to add, I also buy the biscuits, cookes, rich tea, custard creams and bourbons.

I like the SP curry noodles too, great for a quick lunch. The little ones like the pizza as it's quite plain, the cheese spread, and the swiss roll.
  • my kids love the sp rice pudding, so do I. It's only 18p per tin I think abrosea is about 75p

We buy quite a few sp products. Rice pudding, custard, jelly, flour, tinned fruit, jars of meat and fish paste, beans, beans and sausage, tinned tomatoes, lasagne sheets. We also buy the mushy peas but I mix a few of drops of green food colouring in so that the colour looks more appetising and the kids will eat them. (they haven't noticed yet ;) )

  • The SP pancakes are just as good as any others, and my friend swears by the SP noodles. I also like the SP cheese slices for burgers.

SP Tortilla Chips and the SP Salsa are both really good.

We put a layer of chips on a plate, cover with some of the salsa and top with some grated cheese and pop it in the microwave. Really nice (and cheap!) supper dish and there is enough chips and salsa to do two or three lots :j
