Tesco: New Bogof policy

i do get confused on this site where the big supermarkets are concerned.... they save you money... great loop holes found and your all over them like a rash.... but as soon as they do something like this that will benifit both the customer and them you all cant wait to hit them with great big baseball bats.....
this is a good idea. less food is sent to land fill. the farmers are still selling the food. the food is still shipped from source to store. the supermarkets are still making money. and you the customer can save some.... it is your choice to buy more if you go back to redeam your coupon.
and if you really think supermarkets are so bad.... dont use them. there are plenty of farm shops around.Life is like a box of chocolates........
too much all at once and you start to feel just a little sick...._ _pale_

I wonder if this will be possible from tesco.com?0

On the face of it this will be a good deal on anything perishable for people like me and my OH, who shop at Mr T probably 2-3 times a week for veg, fruit, meat and bread. Most bogoffs on such products are currently no use to us because we would not use the food before it goes off/past its use by date.
Give them a chance, before you kick them!0 -
No-one really thinks BOGOF is really free do they ? It is like seeing £2 a bag, 1 bag BOGOF. Your brain goes £1 a bag but the real price is perhaps £1.25 a bag with 75p profit so by forgoing 50p in potential profit (2*(1.25-.5) v 2-2*.5), they raise profits from 75p to £1 at the same time as increasing the propensity for the customer to buy the item as it is listed at a perceived large discount. To stay within the law, just hike the price the week before and put it in a small display in a dark corner.
Customers are stupid, even the clever ones, just less so.0 -
:think:My initial reaction was Yeh-great idea,But wonder what will happen if you go back for the "free item" and find its sold out-no longer in stock, will Tesco offer alternative vouchers for the bogoff voucher???
And i agree with others, theres a chance i may lose my vouchers, and if i dont then yeh i will end up doing my shopping whilst there collecting my belated BOGOFF...Tesco have found themselves a clever marketing team me thinks:exclamatiSlimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.

Unless you have a mother/sister/father/brother...etc who does not live with you- swapping vouchers could be very useful- and the sheer volume of times I've been to Tesco and seen them have one last product left of a BOGOF item on the shelf- its so annoying! At least this way I stand a chance of saving money!
Apparently they are going to produce the coupons and then somehow know how much to stock up on- though this could be too good to be true- I have a store near me which is a super-store, yet several days a week runs clean out of ALL fruit, ALL vegetables, ALL milk, ALL frozen foods.....all by the time the clock reaches 7pm. (Canada Water Store if anyones wondering) lets hope this gets them to pull themselves together- if they don't forfill their promises to product the extra item, they could easily lose customers and if not, then people taking up their offers.
Clever marketing ploy though, eh?!0 -
Anyone seen a date for this to start yet?
Or had the experience and voucher yet - if so any more details would be helpful?0 -
Would have thought it would be several months yet0
