Tesco: New Bogof policy

  • Whilst this appears to be a good idea I have no doubt in my mind that the voucher would get lost in my handbag and I would miss out. It depends on how long you have to reimburse the voucher, a week or a month? people could abuse this as well, can't you see all the vouchers for sale on ebay, someone is bound to try and make money out of it.

The only thing I don't buy BOGOFs on is fruit because my lot simply wouldn't get through it all. Everything else is usually fine cos if it ain't tinned or dry food it can be frozen and used another time.

I can see for friends on family on a restricted budget they could do their shopping together and split the BOGOFs.
Not everyone would want to get their BOGOFs later either.

Its another thing for the checkout operator to remember to ask along with do you have a clubcard, do you have your own bags, can I help pack your bags and forgetting to put green points on when you use your own bags.....

Tesco aren't usually the ones covering the cost of offers - the supplier is. Same goes for other supermarkets.

That is precisely why Tesco's profits will go up and up and up ............

Hmmm too.., I think this is more to do with tesco hoping you never go back for the second item, so they make more profit.

I mean what is the point of a BOGOF? why not just sell the item at half price.

I think they use BOGOF to move more stock off the shelves, but if they allow you to collect it later then it all becomes a bit pointless.

I suspect the opposite is true. You go back to pick up your 'free' product and whilst you're there you just do a bit more shopping. If there's another BOGOF it becomes a virtuous circle (for Tesco) as you never go anywhere else.

Can't help but think that the other big three will follow Tesco on this one.

Maybe the idea behind this is if we are given a voucher that must be used within a week or month whatever, customers who do not shop at Tesco regularly will be more inclined to go back and then while they're there do the rest of their shopping, which previously may have been done at Asda.

  • so it works well in Tesco's favour, as in many people will forget to use the voucher in time or will buy extra on their subsequent visit, but it's to be expected, they are a business so never expected to be doing it at a loss to themselves.....But for the savvy shopper (that's us lot on here folks) it can also work in our favour.

    Thanks for the info OP.
