Spent most of the morning supervising (as in providing tea, sandwiches etc) OH and DGS2's other grandfather putting up the curtain track for DD4's living room window and door...its 10feet high and 8 wide so the air was blue on several occasions, the fact that it is a track from IKEA which will hold 6 panels rather than curtains was an added difficulty apparently...I am liking the idea of making the panels less and less.

Chicken and potatoes in oven for dinner, carrots and cabbage organised too...they are moving after dinner so its a kind of 'last supper' and I don't want to think too much about it.

Hugs to all in need or want

  • hi all, not posted this week as have had a very busy autism week:rolleyes:, DS coming down with cold and any illness seems to increase his autistic difficulties......I think it may be due to being very anxious about being ill etc. We are going through the switching lights on and off constantly stage again. Last time we had to resort to switching them off at the control box so they didnt work.....not much fun living in the dark after tea though;)
Anyway I only really signed in to offer support to you Bitsy. Try not to worry too much, have a look on NAS website and maybe get hold of a book or two.....will recommend some if need be:D.
And focus on the positive.......autistic children have loads of great attributes;) I wouldnt change my DS for the world.
Please PM me with any questions or worries.....I know DS is on the severe end of the spectrum but children on the milder end have the same or similar problems and difficulties.

Thanks for the Cider Cake recipe Jayward; I've saved it in Word, and will give it a go next time we have cider in the house (probably soon, knowing Mr LW).:o

Bitsy - have a hug hun, sometimes even when you think something is a possiblity it's a big shock when others agree xx

Haribo - sinuses are much better now thanks, but have opted to spend evening with oh instead, though of course he may prefer that I go to the Ann Summers party! So far today he has cooked me lunch, sorted out my flat tyre, bought me a new spare and just generally been lovely and supportive whilst I've been dealing with poopy stuff!

nomoneymummy - well done you! We could all do with friends and neighbours like you.

nikkei - welcome to the thread

Marie - have a hug hun xx

Well not much os stuff was done at home after the car kerfuffle, did do a bit more tidying and washing though, it's never ending, I wonder if there is some kind of critical mass?! At oh's now and just made a tomato sauce with lots of garlic and red wine, smells yummy, have brought some ragu over for him, which was what the kids had in the end! Just waiting for him to finish feeding the masses and then we can relax with dinner and a bottle of wine, and a nice glass of calvados to follow (brought back from France by one of his sous chefs :o)

Have a good evening all xx

    Good evening,

I am shattered tonight. I spent the day taking Paul's uniform to the undertakers and arranging his funeral. I was also allowed to see him, so I left him some little gifts from George and I. Unfortunately, the undertakers had to lend us a tie as there is no sign of his luggage yet. I have to say the undertaker has shown nothing but kindness and understanding. The funeral is the 3rd of November.

George's cat has chosen him. Out of the 12 kittens, a little grey Korat girl chose him, despite me intending to pick a Burmese boy. Such is life. You'll have to look up Korats, I'd never heard of them until this week either.

My friend and neighbour fed us both this evening. Almost back to normal tomorrow but we'll be eating out as George is going to a party (very close friends so I'm invited too).

I'd just like to thank you all again for supporting George and I, and for all the kind messages of support we've had, both on this board and via PM's. You'll never know how much they've all helped.

Ooh jayward - I've got a Farmhouse Kitchen cookbook, it used to be my Mum's! She bought it because she loved the TV series, but I think she only used it once or twice, as usually there was only herself to cook for after I'd left home. She was in her fifties at that time. I might give the cider cake a go, it sounds lovely! I've just had a look at the book though and can't find that recipe in it, so I wonder if there was a later book? The one I have was first published in 1975, but was reprinted several times.

We did quite a big shop in Asda today - a lot of it was things that you only use a little of at a time so they last for ages - I just seemed to have run out of several things at once. I also bought a bottle of lemon juice (as well as fresh lemons) as I seem to keep seeing interesting recipes lately which need lemon juice and I never have any in :o I wanted to get some coconut milk to try out Jamie Oliver's chicken tikka masala recipe, and they had ordinary or "light" versions. I eventually decided on the "light" one as DH is diabetic and not meant to eat much fat, but when I got home I found I'd somehow got both  - I must have put the "normal" one in the trolley instead of back on the shelf :o Oh well, I've got it now so I'm sure it'll get used.

Dinner was an adaptation of a recipe from "Real Fast Food" - in this case it wasn't particularly fast, as it included things like reading "add the garlic and spring onions" and realising I'd forgotten to get them ready :p It was Stir-fried beef with broccoli and mushrooms, but I'd bought a bag of mixed pepper stirfry mix, so I used that instead of broccoli and mushrooms. It was very tasty!

mummysaver - Glad you feel better this evening!

Marie - (((HUGS))) to you, hopefully you'll see them again soon!
