Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Friday 16th October. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning OS friends,
bday2.gifto MrsB - hope you have a good one!
Cranky - Still thinking of you and George and sending love
Penpen - Just want to reiterate how glad we all are to have you 'back' with us.
Layla and Nikkei - welcome2.gif , good to have you both here.smile_teeth.gif
Essex - well done to you and your OH for standing up for yourselves.
Bitsy - You could make the same thing but use bacon bits I am sure. It would taste yummy I think.
Curly - always nice to see you post
Taplady - thank you, I kind of just made it up as I went along though have read similar things. I am sure you could use any smoked fish or bacon etc
Nordictat2 - You have seen season 2 of Trueblood? I have only seen 3 episodes of Series 1 so far! I read the first Twilight book but that was about it. I always have about 4 different books on the go at any one time. giggle.gif
Molly - hope that the new treatment brings you some relief
Penpin - I am so sorry to hear about your fall, you poor thing!
Nic1 - you are very welcome honey.xx
Jackie0 - I can see you are live on the forums - shouldn't you be asleep at this time of the morning hon?

Pleased you're back with us Penpen 'cos despite my best efforts my searching skills leave a lot to be desired, bit like my scones really.
Not sure why but this really tickled me, so thank you for the laugh and I am sure your scones aren't that bad!

I didn't get to talk to Tris for long last night as he wasn't really with it. I went back to bed and napped for a few hours and when I woke up again I had lost my voice. I don't have a cold or even a cough so no idea how, but I have nothing but a squeak! My OH said he was enjoying the peace giggle.gif. It seems to be the same today too so another quiet day for the Diva household.

We are having toast for lunch to use up the slightly stale bread. Have run out of cheese so it will be peanut butter or jam for us. (How very nutritious!!:rotfl:) Dinner will be mince and onion pies with roast potatoes and broccolli and carrots. (I think broccolli is my favourite vegetable). Snack wise we have weetabix cake or twinks.

I had a letter from the caretrust today - they are sending someone on Monday to review my care needs. I am always nervous with these things.

I have to design a couple of birthday cards and make them and I am not very inspired at present. Must knuckle down to that today and at least get an idea or two.

Hope everyone has a good day. With love, light and HShuggies.gif for everyone who would like one.

Lunch is stew and dumplings with some apple crumble and hm icecream and tea will probably my favourite peanut butter sarnies on hm bread, Otherwise not much os , still get v tired and weepy, apparently aftereffects of the swine flu.

  • Morning Grand!

Sorry to hear you are still feeling rough after the flu.. it does take a while to get back to full health I think.

I have a room like your spare room.. we call it the office but there is just about enough room to get from the door to the desk, due to the amount we have in 'storage' in there!

Your apple crumble sounds yummy, haven't had crumble for ages, must add that into the menu plan one day.

Apple crumbles and baked egg custard are my comfort foods, actually must put the latter on my menu list as haven't had that recently, yummy with cinnamon sprinkled on top!
Another cuppa for me , then get dressed and get on with it,

Morning. Cool and dry here in Cornwall. Last day of work today and then 4 days off. My tortoise case rumbles on and the offender should get charged today.... I made him travel 200 miles for the privaledge....

Got most of the funeral details sorted for the Mo in law. Seems easiest just to go with something rather than debate it for hours. I am taking some part of the service, so I have to gather up some memories to talk about for 10 minutes. I think a Mo in law joke might have to be slipped in. It will be a celebration, so I don't think it will be a problem.

Well, 8 hours to go then the time is mine. I need a good night in with pizza and wine. Spent every evening out in PZ, so a rest would be nice and complete tosh to watch on TV.

    Cheers

    Morning everyone.
Bit subdued in Chez Bitsy. At DS assessment with speech therapist and paediatrician they mentioned he's showing traits that would put him on the autism spectrum. This isn't a bolt from the blue but both me and H have mixed feelings in reaction to the news. We know it's not an official diagnosis (that will hopefully come in January) but I doubt they'd mention it if it wasn't a good possibility. His traits aren't severe but still we both can't help but worry about what life will be like for him as he gets older - its the social aspect that we worry about this is the area where he struggles a bit.
Anyway this isn't the place to go on about it and I did um and ah about whether to share this with you guys but I've shared most things and at least it will explain why I perhaps don't "sound" as perky today.
Mindee is coming today and its Diwali the weekend so going to do some activities based around that. Hope the weather stays nice so we can get out in the garden as usual.
Tea tonight.......no idea haven't looked at meal plan. Cooked Leek and Potato soup yesterday so can have that for lunch.
Haven't caught up with yesterdays thread yet so hugs to those that need them.
Have a good day OS or not.

    Morning everyone.

Husband has been quite stressed out with work and on top of that he was going to pass his motorcycle exam..which he has! :T We have been riding together on our Harley for 2 weeks now. So much fun! Getting a wee bit too cold for me though so maybe take a small ride tomorrow but think that might be it for the winter but come Spring..I can enjoy rides with him again.
So back to him being stressed. I surprised him with Playstation 3 Slim yesterday and his face looked like an excited child on Christmas morning :rotfl: I said "So you like it then?" :D he gave me a big squeeze and kiss and said. I love ya, babe hehe.
Atleast when I start Chritmas shopping I know what I can get for him...games!

Very windy here today and cold too so gotta dress well for when I head off my cleaning job today. Going to Dublin next week so don't want to be catching a cold before I head off!

Cats wound is healing nicely! Another day or so and he can take off the yucky plactic collar.

    Have a nice day/weekend all ;)

    Morning All

    Its Friday :j

MSD - hope you find your voice today :D

N9eav - glad the arrangements are going smoothly, heard of so many families falling out over such things.

Grandmasam - take care of youself, get better soon.

Well a little bit of everything is planned today. OH wants to pop in to small town near us, think I will go with him & treat myself to a takeaway coffee at my favourite cafe. Will also pop into Morrisons and see if can get any of the buy one get 2 free offers. They also had an advert for something else that was v reasonable but for the life of me I cant remember what it is:rolleyes:

Whole house will be hoovered today, hopefully that will get rid of any spiders that are lurking at the moment. Will hopefully get the bathrooms cleaned & the ironing done. Planned a big washing sessision but it has just started to rain very finely so that may be postponed.

Nice easy tea of spag bol tonight.

    Have a great day.x

    Morning all,

Still to dark to see what the weather will be doing, but it feels quite cold, no heating on here yet though, extra jumpers and hot water bottles seem to be enough at the moment.

Off to work today, early finish though, so not too bad, pasta and garlic bread for tea, think i will get dd to cook tonight ;).

Had a call from the estate agent last night, fingers crossed, its good news, the chain has repaired its self and the move is back on :T, as long as nothing else goes wrong they are hoping to have us all moved before xmas :T

General tidy round this morning, will shove a wash on tonight, and then open a bottle of wine

Bitsy, what a shock for you all, whatever happens he is still your little lad, and you will cope, its just hard to imagine at the moment, big hugs hun xxx

Hugs where needed, have good days all xx

    Morning all,

It's really windy here this arv. Wasn't like this morning. We've got bushfires on the mainland and a smoky haze is everywhere. :D I'm sneezing and feel a bit yuk so not sure if I'm coming down with a cold or just a combination of too much dust & smoke for the week. My cup runneth over. :D

Made some biscuits & caught up with a few jobs today. DH not home yet. Tea will be either leftovers of might go down to the club.

Ruby That's great news about your house. Hope the garlic bread doesn't sink onto those hips. :D
Bitsy It would be worrying. <hugs>
    DivaHope the assessment goes well.

Hope you all have a lovely day & hugs to those that need them. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)
