Googled it for you
I just don't want anyone buying a sofa and getting done over, if anyone is North West and is looking for a sofa let me know I can give you an address and phone number of a place my mum went to after 2 years of hell with CSL (that rhymes lol)

I would say DON'T go with DFS. They are just useless and it took them 10 weeks to deliver 3 seater and a single chair. Plus the numpty at the store gave us the wrong things to sign, wouldn't post it to us, so we had to travel 2 hrs there and back just to sign some bloody paperwork. Also, i asked about the quick delivery sofas and he said they are about a 5 week wait. our sofas were originally meant to take 8 weeks to arrive....What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0

Does it have to be brand new?
I set a budget of £600 for a new sofa, which really limited my choices to DFS, argos etc and after much reasearch I couldn't find what I wanted ( I wanted velvet), so I started to scour ebay. I ended up getting 2 nearly new sofa's for £350 that retailed for over £2k on the website. We had to hire a van and petrol to pick them up, so another £100, but I now have 2 amazing sofa's that I never could have afforded otherwise. They were immaculate, not a spot on them, and with 2 kids, after one week, they were jumped on, slept on etc. etc. so being nearly new didn't make a difference.0 -

Can't find anything so I doubt its serious. They have had struggles in previous downturns so it wouldnt surprise me. The home furnishings sector overall is really suffering.
If they had big problems there would be alot more news about it available I think.
At any rate, I don't recommend buying a sofa there
not the best quality or service (by a long way). If you do then don't pay cash lol. 0 -
do a bit of investigation into the independant firms locally to you, they are far more likely to offer you a good deal and give you exactly what you want at half the price.
we looked around for about 2 months in gloucester/chelt etc and 2 x 3 seater fully leather recliners in scs was £3500 and we found the exact same sofas for £1600 at an independant family firm so its worth putting in a bit of legwork.
I second this advice. When I was hunting for my sofa I looked at all the big names and hated everything in them. I made a list of all the small independent retailers in my area from the yellow pages and spent a couple of weekends visiting all in a 30 mile radius. I was far more impressed by their selection and prices and eventually bought my lovely comfy sofa from a small family owned shop.
Perhaps if you ask for recommendations on the board for your area in the Local Moneysaving board you can get a good idea of local retailers.0 -
we got ours from sofa workshop about 4 years ago. Reasonable quality for the price, delivered when they said they would.
also, they had a concession in another store, and that store was having a 25% off, so we got that off it too.0 -
Wherever you decide to buy it from, remember to pay with a card if you can, that offers some protection from the company going bust and you not getting your sofa or your money back.
We bought our sofas from Gillies about 12 years ago, it's a Scottish company that's not cheap, but after all these years the sofas still don't have a mark on them. They cost about £1500 though, so I do think you get what you pay for.
However, I sometimes I wish they were really tatty and not good quality, as it would give me an excuse to replace them. They weren't bought for this house, and don't really fit in with the size of living room we have now. Also we should have got 3+3 instead of 3+2, but didn't know then that there would be three of us and that we'd move house.:DMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
