best place to buy new sofa??
gghh
Firstly, sorry if this is the wrong place to be posting this but I didn't know where else to put it!
I am moving in about 4 weeks and need to buy a new sofa ready for my new place, I have been told to avoid Argos as apparently they are very bad quality. I have noticed that Homebase are having a 10% weekend next weekend but I think they are the same company??
Where can I get a decent sofa set and how will I know if it's good quality?
You might have guessed this is the first time I've done this so any help is much appreciated, thanks :A

do a bit of investigation into the independant firms locally to you, they are far more likely to offer you a good deal and give you exactly what you want at half the price.
we looked around for about 2 months in gloucester/chelt etc and 2 x 3 seater fully leather recliners in scs was £3500 and we found the exact same sofas for £1600 at an independant family firm so its worth putting in a bit of legwork.proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance!
Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat moneyquote from an american indian.0 -
I don't know where you are based if it's NW then what ever you do don't go to CSL! Trust me!
Also DFS are on their way under too, so I guess that leaves scs and harveys?

DFS on their way under? Is that right? I haven't heard anything in the news about them. I have seen a sofa I would like to buy early next year.0

I am having the same dilema too OP.
I have asked friends and people have reccomended "sofa sofa" who have a showroom in Cardiff but are also having a day in London on Nov 15th (in Hammersmith) -their prices are very good so worth the travel I think.
My friend has argos sofa's and they are lovely - wouldn't know they are argos at all.
I think we are going to check out DFS and if we can't find any good ones we are going to have a look at the sofasofa range.
One other friend reccomended furniture village.

It was in a newspaper about 2 weeks ago, http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/dfs-joins-victims-of-furniture-downturn-1179865.html
Googled it for you
I just don't want anyone buying a sofa and getting done over, if anyone is North West and is looking for a sofa let me know I can give you an address and phone number of a place my mum went to after 2 years of hell with CSL (that rhymes lol)

We've just had a sofa and a sofabed delivered from sofasofa and I have to say we're really impressed with them! The quality of course is not going to be comparable with the likes of heals but then they are a 3rd of the price! I would say they are better quality than the 2 m & s sofas we have had and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.0

I've had a sofa from Argos and wouldn't get one from there ever again. I now have two sofas from Next and am really happy with them. They gave great customer service and I am paying for them over 12 months interest free.0

We got ours from CSL and I could really recommend them . We even travelled a fair distance to visit their showroom, and were not disappointed at all!!! Nearly 3 years later the sofa is still with us, in the third (!!!) house in the meantime, and looks good, apart from where cat let its claws in... (it is a leather sofa and he did not scratch, so it is just !!!!! marks)Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0

i got my first sofa (which,3 years later are still sitting on) from Argos. Cheap and Cheeerful at the time was required a moving in to an unfurnished rented place. It is a leather 3seater, 2 seater and recline chair = nothing wrong with them, they are grand. My only qualms is that the seat isnt wide enough and back isnt tall enough . Translate that to im just looking to find excuses toget a new sofa!!

Here is our CSL Nightmare http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1178083
They also have an alternative website click on the sofa when you go on
http://tkey.co.uk/csl-sofas-complaints
and another one

I'm just being totally honest I wouldn't want anyone going through the nightmare we have!
