You could always get to the capitol of the universe (LIVERPOOL) in about half an hour . Enjoy manchesters bustling nightlife hope the weathers good

Manchesters curry mile is a good experience in Rusholme .Top Nosh
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world
  • ditto, visit the curry mile, rusholme.

    John rylands library

affleks palace for a bit of shopping and oldham street, which is the trendy shopping street with record shops and oxfam originals - teenagers should love it.

last I heard, there was an ice wall that you could climb too - never been, and don't know if it's still there...

Urbis is a museum of the urban form, I think. Good reviews but I've never been.

I have only really visited Manchester on an evening/early hours but for a really good quality Chinese buffet visit Buffet City on Portman Street. It's about £8.50 but really, really good food. I find that the Rusholme Curry Mile is a bit hit-n-miss, and I've never had a truly amazing curry there. I might have just been going to the wrong places though! Avoid the Al-Nawaz.

depends how old you are what you like doing but the cool bars/shops/cafes are in an area called the 'northern quarter' - nearish to a bar called bluu.....tib st/oldham st/...its nice to hang out there in the afternoon and the night.

just wanted to say thanks again to everyone for all your tips. We got back late last night and had a great time. Iccidently, you were vastly better at promoting things to do in Manchester than the official touist info place was; the only thing we got from them which was of any use was a map  :D

spent thursday strolling around and getting our bearings (it's a lot more compact than i remembered). went for a lovely walk along the canal too. We visited the JR library (gorgeous, gorgeous, goreous!), St Ann's square, saw the town hall and nosed around the Cathedral. Yesterday we hit the shops- i dread to think how many miles we walked in the arndale centre it's HUGE. also enjoyed the peroni exhibition in Urbis.

Manchester is a fab city and thanks to your excellent advice on things to do and see we had a great time :j
