I think it'd be more moneysaving to use as much cold as possible but pour a jug of warm over yourself at the end so you appreciate the warmth more :rotfl:0

I think I spotted Penelope Penguin, but I was so busy trying to decide if it was her or not, I completely missed what her OS tip was
Sorry Penny, if that was you in the kitchen! I'd have liked a bit more time with each person, as it were. But I do agree about the bathwater - I can't imagine it warming my house! I liked Barbara though.

That was good if a bit short. £250 a week or 13K a year on just groceries was a bit shocking that's more than our entire income for a family of 5."Sometimes life sucks....but the alternative is unacceptable."0

We always used to stand up and dry off as much as possible in the bath with the water still in because we had absolutely no heating in our flat when I was a child.
It would definitely steam the walls up though if you left it in for hours with the door open.
Would have been interesting to know how much more money Martin managed to cut from their yearly amount with his calculations or did I miss that bit?
I thought everyone was very calm and professional, I would have been a blithering nervous wreck.
Who is the forager? was it fergus the forager?
Wasn't the food bill enormous? The new amount must have been around £290'ish a month to have been a saving of £9000 over the year.0 -
It's daylight and look at all the lights they have on!!
Have to say have never seen Mr Lewis on tv before as I am not a fan of GMTV.His voice wasn't what I expected..But he does come across well- not patronizing and caring. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Martin,
I think you did well, though you could have shaved - designer stubble is soooo last year
It's nice to hear you speaking slow time these days rather than the faster than the fastest stenographer can keep up with pace that you used to employ - particularly on radio.
I think, as a pilot (if that's what it is), it was good but maybe it shouldn't be so fast cutting from scene to scene and tip to tip? It's almost as though you compensated for your slowing down of your talk by ensuring the clips and tips were fast!
Remember, less is more - perhaps focus less on the "shock horror How Much?! of the family grocery bill) and focus more on the day in a life of an OSer or something like that..
I say this with love, respect and admiration....I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

I read something in am American novel-it may have been by Tony Hillerman- about how to make sure your road kill is fresh. The woman in the novel would drive to town and on the way would stop and move all road kill onto the grass verge . On the way back she would pick up any road kill that was on the road as she knew it had been killed recently.
Way too extreme for me! I can remember when I was a child and a neighbour gave my mother a duck that he'd hit with his car-it was his children's pet so he knew they wouldn't eat it. My mother was very angry when we refused to eat it too.0
