  • To be fair, I don't think retailers knew that go go hamsters would be so popular.

My friend used to own a boutique and she would order winter stuff in the summer and summer stuff in the winter. It is difficult to predict what is going to be popular and I assum it is the same with toys.

I've never heard of CM gifts and presume that when Michael or whoever ordered they did the standard order as they would with any new toy. I only heard of zhu zhu back in the summer (didn't think to buy anything then).

As soon as the papers started saying they are the must have toy the ball started rolling (pardon the pun!) and people started buying. A few canny/greedy people then bought to sell on ebay at much higher prices because they realised that stock was disappearing from shops.

News got round about the high prices and so it became all the more desirable to buy as it is now what every parent is talking about. They feel they must get this toy because their child will be the only one not to get it.

If bought at the rrp it does off good value for money as a toy and even with the rrp accessories it does make a fab present for christmas without breaking the bank.

Sadly, we are all now faced with either giving in to high ebay prices or waiting for the last lot of stock to appear in the uk before christmas. this has proven to be hit and miss with only a few being able to buy online as lots of people flock to buy all at the same time.

Personally, I think the best way forward is to keep phoning your local shops and stores for stock that may dribble through.

next year we must be better prepared. I expect the ebay group will die down after christmas but I hope people from here will stay in there and we can update each other over next year as to what might be a good toy for christmas so we can buy well in advance.
Went to the paper shop - it had blown away.

Just found out that Argos are flying in some more stock before xmas - sorry, no details of what or when. They only had houses, cars, and hammies online before...
My neice was in argos picking up the car/garage & got chatting to a member of staff. She told her that they have sold the adventure balls & was 99% that they had some in stock room - she even asked other members of staff who told her the same thing - YES they have definately had the balls in stock & were some in stock room. They thought that they must have been for sale on a promotional leaflet at some point. She couldn't check because they had no catalogue number! My neice begged & pleaded with her to go & check but she said the stock is't kept together so would be like looking for a needle in a haystack.
  • I keep seeing various hamsters popping up on Amazon for £9.99 plus postage, it is from a seller. Im just not quick enough. Hopefully they will keep listing them.
