  • I doubt theres anyone in my area on here (cumbria - north west), but had a look today in my local Asda (nothing) and another look in Tesco. Where they 'had' been on the shelf yesterday, were the price labels, with a red sticker over the top saying "new stock due in 17/11" Im going to pop in then to see if they have any accessories as I have one hamster which is enough for my daughter for now.
Has managed to get Mr Squiggles, NumNums, A funhouse, A Ball, A Skateboard, an aqua bed, A Car and a Wheel. Surfboard on order from Play.com.

Think 21,000 hamsters when multiplied by larger retailers and number of retailers stocking equals more than a consignments' worth. Find it hard to believe.

I think it was 2000 for Wilkinsons rather than 21000? I don't have one anyway so makes no odds to me!

Sorry if this has already been said but if you pre-register all your details with amazon, including payment card, you can then order with `one click' if you are logged in. This prevents anyone from pinching your hamsters during the checkout process. I did this on Friday and got two 7.99 hamsters.
Previously when doing it the slow way they kept disappearing out of my basket.

The same applies to many websites including character-online, tesco.com, cmgiftsandcollectables.co.uk, toysrus, play.com, hoorayfortoys.co.uk etc etc. As i've said before, if you know things are going to be coming up get registered in advance then you can check out quicker. However, most of the websites do not guarantee your basket so if you are not quick enough checking out, those little hamsters will have dived into someone elses basket who can type quicker than you. We all know that many stores and websites will start getting stock in again next week (albeit a small amount) as the main distributor is due to get their stock tomorrow and so they will be sending the orders out to the stores after this, so its a case of keeping your eyes peeled both in store and online.

We definitely know that Wilkinsons, Character, and Cmgiftsandcollectables are getting stock next week but you'd have to check back through some of the posts i've made over the last couple of weeks to get all the expected dates and stock which may be listed etc etc as it would take me ages to repeat it here again. Its also worth keeping a check on Hoorayfortoys.co.uk later on in the week as they could be getting some more things in.

  • Fell across this thread from the live stock checker which directed me to Yorkshiretoys. It took me 4.5 hours to complete the order the website was that slow but i have had an email to say got 4 hammies in dispatch. I know they were £10.99 each and a postage fee of £4.75 was applied but dont mind paying that after the heartburn Ive had this week trying to track them down. Got to get back on the gaviscon now though for the accessories hunt!
  • I think this week will be tough in shops as people are now hyped up thinking this is the last lot in before christmas.

Some tips for hitting the shops.

    1. Eat a good breakfast to keep your enery level up as you may not be stopping for lunch!

    2. Take some Rescue Remedy with you in case you get too stressed.

    3. Arrange for young children to be left with family/friends/babysitter so that you are not hindered by them asking silly questions such as, "I'm hungry and thirsty", "My nappy needs changing" and "Mummy, I don't really want a hamster for christmas!". Remember you are on a serious mission.

    4. Be fully prepared to speak loudly or indeed shout. Rehearse phrases such as, "Take those 17 Num Nums out of your basket NOW!", "I SAW CHUNK FIRST, GET YOUR GREEDY MITTS OFF OF HIM" and of course if you spy the store manager "Helloooo Sweetie, my you don't see many managers as handsome as you. Wow Has anyone told you how much you look like George Clooney/Brad Pitt/David Beckham?".

    5. Be prepared to compromise your morals and your marriage by offering personal services to aforementioned store manager in return for Go Go hamster stock.

    6. Keep your cash and cards in a bum bag and leave your handbag at home, you will need both hands free for pushing and shoving any shoppers out of the way and for grabbing Mr Squiggles when you spot him on the shelf.

    7. Turn off your mobile phone. Sick children at school will not be neglected, children are remarkably hardy you know. You will see your husband when you get home and besides he shouldn't be using the office phone to call you, anyway. You need to concentrate and don't need the distraction of a phone!

    8. Comfy shoes please. Or winkle pickers that will deliver a good kick to the woman in front who just grabbed the last Chunk. As she yelps in pain and drops Chunk it would only be polite of you to pick Chunk up. And run off with him to the till damn quick.

    9. Get in touch with your sat nav service provider and ask if they can change their speed camera warning to one that links up with Go Go Hamster Stock checker so that you can immediately do a hand break turn in the middle of the high street and head off to a store that has just got some more stock in.

    10. Cheat. As you enter a shop behind a gaggle of shoppers heading off for the toy aisle, suddenly shriek at the top of your voice, "OMG they've put all the go go hamsters over in the drinks aisle HALF PRICE", sidestep the stampede and then saunter over to the toy aisle to get what you want.

Good luck tomorrow ladies (and gents) I wish you well on your mission to Go Go Hamster Go!
Went to the paper shop - it had blown away.

Yes, yorkshiretoycompany.co.uk is another one that could be getting stock in. Their website is painfully slow though.
