Guys I need two hamsters for two daughters who have asked Santa for them, is there any stock anywhere? I'm not in a position to pay over the odds on ebay, is there any rumours of stock coming? I am at my wits end, phoning every store I can think of.

How come some people have been lucky online?

Too much to repeat again - spend some time reading back through the last 2 days posts on here and you'll find the answers you are looking for.

Well, as you don't pay till dispatch, just keep them on the list and you can cancel at any time. You are not depriving anyone of a hamster as they are NOT in stock and you're just on the list for when they eventually do come back in - along with probably hundreds of others. I think too many people are being made to feel guilty about things on this forum - everyone has equal chance of buying something when it becomes available, its just a case of being in the right place at the right time and its up to each individual to decide what to do with what they have purchased.

Absolutely Maxi, no-one is forced to buy off ebay; I think they just look on there, see the inflated prices and assume they are impossible to get hold of elsewhere, whereas as we know, with a bit of dedication you can get hold of stuff at RRP or close to.

There are most probably hamsters on ships right now sailing their way over from China. Given the demand they've probably way over-ordered. As these ships take a month to cross over it's a nailbiting game waiting for them to come over and deposit stock.

I understand that Character are not bothering with shipping them over now - they are trying to get 2 Air Freights over before Christmas but, of course, the stock has to be made first! Think I read this on the forum somewhere

The simple explanation could be that last week they didn't have any and were not sure if/when they were going to get more, so to avoid confusion, they cancelled the order.

Other retailers have been lambasted for sitting on orders and customers expected that they would eventually receive their order.

Amazon gave you clarity last week that you would need to go elsewhere. Things changed this week and they got more stock ... maybe from Character or maybe they shifted their own stock from the US ... who knows?

Added : Oh ... and if they just reactivated the cancelled order and shipped you a hamster on a cancelled order, then that could annoy people who had already bought elsewhere. Maybe not so bad for a hamster that can easily be moved on, but what it were something else? Opening up cancelled orders just doesn't have any chance of working ... though it might be nice if they emailed you to let you know that something cancelled has come back into stock

Surely it is a fine line and retailers will ultimately be damned if they do and damned if they don't cancel orders under those circumstances.
My order is not cancelled though as in no way jose are you getting it, it is more pending, they could have stock they may have stock and hang around and check and see and we will keep you updated via email so there is no clarity, it is not reactivating an old customer cancelled order it is honouring an ongoing order as amazon says but have been forgotten about along the way whilst the others get theirs.
