I don't know why you lot are punishing yourselves, you're going to be so deflated if they're played with for 2 mins then not touched lol.
I know realistically that over Xmas they may not be played with all the time as the kids will have so many other bits and pieces but my 2 are very good at dragging out toys they haven't played with for months so i am hoping that they will do the same to the hammies/house etc and get long term enjoyment from them as well as their other toys too.
At the end of the day I managed to get them what they wanted and it makes me feel better. If i hadn't been able to then i would have been happy to give them what i could and try to get the rest after Xmas. BUT it did become a little bit of an addiction!! :rotfl:Cost of this Hamster Hunt (inc postage):

My hamsters are just going in the stockings for the kids I think.
Neither are aware of what they are, so they aren't something that they've demanded from Santa.
In fact, considering I have a 3 1/2 year old son and a soon-to-be 6 year old daughter, they've been incredibly restrained.
Their letters to santa were almost identical:
Both want a Nintendo DS and have named 3 games each.
That was it...... No demands for lego, cars, barbie, bratz, new bikes etc.
Needless to say, they're getting more than that, but they've been really simple with their requests.
As for stock in the US - my brother lives in Tampa and said that on Black Friday, these hamsters were what everyone was scouring stores for.0 -

I think that's purely what the hype is. I was sadly enough in Toys r Us in start of November and walked passed it all. Now everyone at his nursery are talking about them. But he's only 4, So I think what I've got him, Hamster, Ball, House, skate board, bed and carrier will do him as he had one of those Nintendogs last year and barely touched it.
I really do think it's parents fueling the hype, not the kids.Sealed Pot Saving No. 799 - Currently £105

I agree but once my two boys saw the ads and the Youtube clips (spotted me watching them) they remarked about how "lucky" those children were to have it all.
My 2 also love playing with animals (pretend play) and this will just add to their imagination where the hamsters move etc. They love playing "pets". At least this way no live animals get hurt!!!
I ended up with the whole set as I felt it would be better shared than just a few bits between them both - I have enough arguments in the house to contend with!!Cost of this Hamster Hunt (inc postage):

Would be much more fun to share 1 big whole set with 2 hamsters than by yourself. Sadly my daughter too young to join in with her big brother, but he'll have me. I've just had to be careful this year because of the credit crunch. I feel awful not getting the full set, I'm hoping I can get the last few bits outta the shops before christmas as online is proving very expensive.Sealed Pot Saving No. 799 - Currently £105

Aww don't feel bad about not getting the whole set - he will love what you have - I am sure my two would have been happy with just the hammies especially the youngest (3.5yrs) but he does follow his brothers lead and they play well together so i just wanted to get it all (didn't stop to think about the cost - if i had had to pay all that in one go I would have keeled over i think.
You are being sensible with regards to cost - I had to be last year as i was made redundant and money was tighter than normal but thankfully i have had a new job for almost a year now so we are ok again.
The credit crunch can be hard for parents as kids don't always understand and peer pressure can be tough too.Cost of this Hamster Hunt (inc postage):
