  • Yay my TRU order just arrived!!!!! First time I have ever actually seen a go go hamster! Was beginning to think they were like santa and they wouldn't come if I was awake. Just hoping my Spanish order pulls through now.

    GoGoHamster.net on Twitter is claiming TRU have more hammies and they have a link but when you click it is OOS.

    Maybe it is a mistake, but they shouldn't be reporting available when it is not.

    Some unscrupulous folks (not saying in this case), do that to make you click and earn commissions on subsequent sales.

    A raffle can be a great way to raise money for charity. However, there are legal rules governing raffles that you need to be aware of.

    What is a lottery / raffle?

    Lotteries come in many different forms and are in general regulated by The Gambling Commission (formerly The Gaming Board) and governed by the Gambling Act 2005, which came into force in September 2007.

    Lotteries and raffles are in general unlawful unless you comply with the requirements set out below in relation to the raffles that you run.

    Provided that you meet the requirements below, matched fundraising may be available.

    Requirements for Permitted Raffles

    Raffles at Events

    You can run a charity raffle at an event if it meets the following criteria:

    · A raffle can only be held at an event where the raffle is not the main focus of the event e.g. a coffee morning, fete, dress-down day, dinner or fun day;
    · Alcohol can only be used as a prize if it is in a sealed container;
    · There must be no rollover of prizes from one raffle to another;
    · The maximum you can spend on prizes is £500– this excludes any donated prizes;
    · There is no minimum or maximum restriction on ticket prices; and
    · Tickets can be sold to and by anyone over the age of 16 as long as they are sold at the event only.

    The money you raise from selling tickets and from the event (eg by way of entrance fees or sponsorship participation) must be used for charitable purposes and cannot be used for ‘private gain’ but can cover the main expenses of the raffle including:

    · The cost of prizes – maximum £500; and
    · The cost of printing raffle tickets and the cost of the event being held – maximum £100.

    Other Raffles

    There are other types of legal raffle where it is possible to sell the tickets in advance.

    However, the rules governing these are complicated and if you want to sell tickets to the public, the organisation for which you wish to raise funds will be required to register with the local authority where it has its head office before the event. A fee will be payable for this. If you do wish to go down this route, please contact the relevant local authority or the Gambling Commission directly (www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk). This is likely to only be feasible for larger raffles.

    This is basically what I was told about raffles by the gambling commission.

    Ebay basically said that they are not a priority, as small sums of money are involved ie 99p. I wouldnt call 500+ tickets @ 99p small sums of money.

    Funny onion has emailed the gamling commision and is awaitng a reply, i mentioned to ebay that unless they started taking this seriously i would report them and they said, yeah well if you must.

    And if ''I'' keep reporting the listings will get removed eventually. Why on earth should I do there job, surely 1 report is all they need to investigate an auction, there making bucket loads in fee's - hire some more bloomin staff.

    Was this a phone conversation or online? If online then keep all correspondence as this could be put forward to gambling commission to show that ebay are allowing this activity to go on knowingly :)
    Please remember to thank fellow MSE'rs :beer:

    I have absolutely no idea what is happening with my order, it shows as in preparation, but when I put the order through I tried 3 payment cards, 2 kept getting an error message, the 3rd one went through the verify visa screen ok, but my issuer for that card has said there is nothing showing on my account :confused: so I have an order but I don't know how its being paid, I wonder if they might email me for my card details, its odd because one of the cards that wasn't accepted gave authorisation to the store 3 times meaning that the error screen was the stores problem not our cards. confused.com!

    Thankfully its not just me thats having problems with this site - I have decided to give up on them after several attempts - Hopefully your order will be honoured. Good Luck
