  • Ok SO Blah have no answers really except making stuff up. Apparently they had more stock in after that initial load at 9pm (but clearly couldn't be bothered to go back to the unfulfilled orders) and then had excess orders in that run as well!!! I have told her that none of their answers clear up the queries as i ordered before people (as did Nuttygal) and we haven't received our stuff so the 1st come 1st served basis is rubbish.

I have also told her they have disappointed and probably lost a lot of customers and I for one will not be trusting them anymore. What more can I do!!??
Cost of this Hamster Hunt (inc postage):
    2 x Num Nums - £36.70, 1 x Chunk £13.50, 1 x Chunk £15.50, Slide £26.89, House £25.94, Car £14.99, Ball £9.99, Surfboard £9.99, Skateboard £9.99, Wheel £24.19 TOTAL:£187.68

A big thanks to you MSE'ers - especially Maximouse :A

This is so confusing, my hubby went to 24 hour tesco's in Exeter this morning at about 7.30, couldn't see any hammies and asked at customer services and was told they are no longer stocking that item - eeeeeeek - what do we believe, I think I will still keep sending him in the mornings just to check - he may get a bit fed up of this though!!

You obviously need to kick him out of bed earlier ;)
Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies

thats a good point funny onion about keeping the momentum going

i had a problem with character taking money but not getting an order number let alone getting the actual order! they then said they would honor the order and are sending the order out to me allegedly! so they must have to keep some stock to sort out problems maybe?

i am not holding my breath that the order will actually come though!

Lizdav has explained, Character have stock, quite a lot of it, but they cannot list it because of us lot F5'ing whenever they are due to list. They cannot physically get the items listed onto the site and when they do the site goes down. Its a no win situation for them, they need to just list and be done with it because I don't think there's ever going to be a good time, but as lizdav has also said they may choose not to have this downtime on their site as it affects their other sales, they may just ship the stock off to retailers who have accounts with them and be done with it.

In the end, we decide if we're remembered for what happened to us or for what we did with it ;)

At my local tesco I heard a women giving her details (phone number) to a staff member in the toy aisle so she could phone her when go go pets came in stock. When I asked the same staff if they were taking details to call customers she said "no, that was my sister in law". I heard them discussing exactly who in the family needed them and how much they were going for on ebay - the Tesco staff even remarked how it would be worthwhile selling themselves. No fun and not fair.

It's a bit rubbish if you are trying to get hold of the stock yourself but I guess if you have a family member that works for Tesco/TRU/Sainsbury's etc... then it's one of the perks of the job surely - from what I remember about working in retail (20 odd years ago now) there really weren't many perks! ;)

None of our family work in any of these places but if I did I think I would give my sister a shout if we had any stock come in and she still needed hammy things.

The buying up of stock before they hit the shelves and selling of them on ebay though is a different matter - very naughty!

I heard a staff member in Wilko saying something similar

Do you own the zhuzhuhamster.co.uk then? Sorry I was a bit slow on the uptake. YOU ARE BRILLIANT. Your page has been minimised on my pc for a week now! I do not use the other ones because I read they are paid by stores to list. Keep up the good work :T

I have tried to be completely transparent .. Yes, that is my site and like other sites I also receive payment if you buy after following certain of my links. However, I did notice that a number of stockchecker sites were not including non-commissionable retailers and I have flagged up that difference on my front page.

So .. Yorkshire Toys, Hooray, BP and others are on the live stockchecker even if I will never ever see a penny from them as I see it as a whole service rather than deceiving that it is only the major (commissionable) stores that carry stock.

Thanks - I think I will just continue checking and hope to have some luck like you - well done.

They are losing extra revenue by not listing though. I have posted before that I for one had extra items in my basket to make the order qualify for free shipping. Some of the items are priced higher than I can get elsewhere. I am sure that other people will have done the same.

It may be a case of swings and roundabouts ... when people think Character might list, the F5s go crazy and people can't buy their other products ... e.g. the Peppa Pig Palace is another 2009 Dream Toy and they control that too.

Character will need to take a broader view than you do.
