How long do you like to go on holiday for?

    Obviously depends on the holiday.

I week is usually too short as I enjoy exploring new places and there is often not the time to do that properly in a week.

But, whilst two weeks off work is great, I tend to find that I only really enjoy being away from home for about 10 days of it. After that I tend to start getting a bit fed up of living out of a suitcase, not being in my own bed, being reliant on restaurants as to when I can eat and what I can have, etc.

Of course, it's lovely to go away, but by having about 10 days away, I then have the chance to just veg at home for 3-4 days before I need to go back to work, which is lovely!

I've never had the opportunity for a longer holiday.

We generally have a week but approx 4 holidays per year:o

Are there any of you that have just the one holiday per year (2 weeks) and find that this is enough?

If its with the kids, then maybe 7 days isnt long enough, but any longer and they lose out on school due to travelling in term-time.

Can you not travel outside of term time?

Just to clarify what I said, if I was to have an exploring 3 week plus holiday, I wouldn't stick to the same place. I'd travel around the country, taking as long as I need in each place. I may even go to multiple countries depending on the circumstances. I'd struggle to spend 3 weeks in one place.

I went on a beach style holiday for a week in June and being honest I couldn't have stayed there much longer.

No; it's never long enough! Although the longer we're away, the longer it takes to adjust back to normal life.

Four days for a European city holiday, 3 weeks minimum for long haul to interesting places (Thailand, NZ etc.)

7-10 days for a lounging around the pool type holiday with kids, unless combined with something else, ideally of cultural or sporting interest. How on Earth did I used to spend two weeks in Spain or the Canaries, in one place?;)

    Not really, too expensive.

2 Adults, 1 Child, 1 Infant, All Inclusive to Majorca (end of May) in-term was £585 with meals & transfers. Some people had paid more for self-catering.

Run that again at half-term. Expect to pay £1600 onwards.

Though, i dont mind going half-term time, thats if you want to pay the difference. PM me the address i need to send copy of the booking too..

    2 weeks is good.

I'm busy all year with family, home, work, uni, dog etc. I like the first few days just relaxing beside the pool/beach, then 8-10 days of exploring, then the last couple of days just relaxing again so I go home feeling all refreshed and recharged and ready to run about like a mad woman again :D
Here I go again on my own....

I prefer to have several - then there is always something new to save for and plan.

Lots of people I know will not even have one holiday this year, let alone one fortnight long one.

I think a week is too short, two weeks is too long, and 10 days is just right. Hard to get though, unless you book by yourself, but even then, some flights only fly to/from some destinations on certain days of the week.

I get homesick really quickly. I'm ready to come home after a few days!
  • We tend to have 1 holiday, but go away for 4 weeks. And we never want to come home. I've never understood it when people say they are ready to come home.

Before children, and when they were still quite small, we would do fly drive type holidays for 4 weeks. The last few times have been to Florida. We haven't had a holiday this year and probably won't next either. But when we do go away again we'll aim for 4 weeks.
