A Fool and Her Money- CAFCGIRL's Debt Diary

Hi CAFCGirl,
Thanks for your reply - hope I didn't sound too nosy!
I absolutely know where you are coming from - my OH and I live together but seem to co-exist a lot of the time - and live seperate lives. We need to make so much effort to spend more time together but never seem to have the time or the inclination. But we love each other very much.
He's also not really on the same page as me with moneysaving - he likes the theory, but not the practice. If I tell you he went and spent £390 on cymbals for his drumkit on Saturday - that might give you more of an idea! I am guilty of ignoring him a bit and leaving him to get on with his own life while I get on with the frankly quite time consuming business of moneysaving (MSE, quidco, eBay, amazon, click sites, uswitch etc) so need to watch this.
Here's some ideas that cost little (or no) money:-
* Just go to the pub and have a lime'n'soda or a shandy and just talk - we only ever go out with other people but need to make more of an effort to just go out the two of us
* Go to the pictures - try and get free tickets through cinecheck or in a local newspaper - this works for me
* Oldest cliche - but go for a walk - I have no idea if you are near a beach - but I love being near the water - its so romantic
* Could you both go to a *taster* session of something together - near where I live they have cheap or free taster sessions or days of dance classes, shiatsu, printmaking, sculpture, yoga - could you do something like this together?
* Have some people over for dinner together (I know this is with other people but can work!) and have a nice meal and some wine (hopefully they will bring this!) and play board games/cards
Hope this helps! Keep in touch and let us know how you are both getting on.

Easy - picnic on the beach - never fails
.
My OH and I have a lot of other stuff going on so know what it's like - you need some peace & quiet together. Switch the world off and chill with MSE picnic.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

I think the picnic idea's a good'un (although I wouldn't think our chavtastic beaches are particularly conducive to romance!)
Maybe go to a park, take a football, camera to take dumb pointless photos with, twister (and some oils if it's a secluded park for naked twister), lots of messy food so you can laugh at each other
Or, go ice skating. No one can be angry whilst ice skating! Not free tho, unfortunately
Dress up as old people and wander round the shops annoying everyone in your path. Did actually do that once, ludicrous amount of fun!
I'm sorry, my ideas do tend to lean towards the immature side of things...DFW Nerd #104 I :heartpuls my Kittenand my hat :heartpuls

lol @ Peaches. That'd work quite well with the boyf since we're not exactly even on the maturity levels just yet!
He's still a student, in his year out, so he's very much in that mentality if that makes sense.Whereas because I work, I've got different priorities I guess, especially with MSE now going on.
Like the ideas Scot' but boyf is very particular about what he likes to do, doesnt really enjoy anything that he sees as middle aged, I quite frankly would love to learn to belly dance or something, or salsa but he's not very keen when i put that kind of stuff to him.
In all honesty I think we just need to spend more of our time actually doing something, then cooking dinner, eating, watching tv, and then bed. It's difficult for him too because I'm a bit of a hermit and have developed some rather pathetic issues when it comes to going out, I'm getting better but its hard with his friends, who are all students, and then I dont really have any friendsok just depressing myself now so I'll stop that one right there!
Thanks all for the ideas tho, I'd really like to spend some time out of the house with him so if it's nice on saturday, I might suggest just chilling in the park opposite my house, then a cold one in the pub over the other road from my house!
Got sent home again, started going a bit green round the edges so boss said go home. I wish this thing would just clear up! I want my food!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
:grouphug: Sucks that you're still feeling ill, hope it goes away soon. Are you drinking lots of fluid and stuff?
The park sounds good, very simple but nice, hopefully not too many distractions for you
I can relate to being a hermit, I get like that sometimes. I just don't want to do *anything*, let alone with people I don't especially like. Try not to get down on yourself though xDFW Nerd #104 I :heartpuls my Kittenand my hat :heartpuls

Thanks Peaches,
It's not all as bad as my post probably made it sound, but in all honesty I really don't leave the house as much as I should! lol especially for someone whose 22!
I'm just not one of those types to go to pubs and clubs every weekend, then work all week to pay for the next weekend. I guess I just want more substance in my life!
I was thinking of looking into doing something a bit different with me time, like a class or something, I'm looking for a meditation circle at the mo'. I know theres not much conversation at one of those, but baby steps! lol
Are you drinking lots of fluid and stuff?
not sure what "stuff" relates to!? lol but I'm hoping nothing too awful. I feel a bit better now but just felt really green this morning, didnt have a very good sleep either! So thats not helping.....

:rotfl: I've got a really bad habit of saying 'and stuff' after everything! I'm trying to cut down and stuff tho...
Glad you're feeling better now
I've thought about finding a class to do a few times. I did an OU short course a couple years back, that was ace. Just not sure what I'd like to do now, plus cost etc. Hope you find your meditation group!DFW Nerd #104 I :heartpuls my Kittenand my hat :heartpuls
