It's quite easy - but it costs a few pence. People will object to a few pence being on the sticker price, but not to a few pounds being on the electricity bill.

Apparently, if you smack it with something like a spade - and not a hammer, the top will drop off cleanly. You can then use it as a planter or something.
is that the boyfriend or the terrimundi?

Nope. Only does that with lightbulbs - but they go from 20 celcius to 2000 celcius in a small fraction of a second. That would shorten my life..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

He's lovely. It'd only be his top I'd like to take off if you know what I mean
I've introduced him to MSE soda crystals and BOGOF's. He saved £8 on his shopping last week cause of me :T Ok, he prob spent £15 more cause of me but that's beside the point.
Anyway, apologies for hijacking thread! Back to the stand-by issue!
I only leave things on standby if I'm leaving the room for a short while. Certainly overnight and while I'm out during the day then everything gets switched off properly - and the plugs out if I can reache them in case of fire!

I live in fear that I've never switched my hair straighteners off so I have to unplug and switch the main off lol

on the standby/plug issue!
YAY to us girlfriends! Mine earns twice what I do and spends all of it (though he's not in debt) and can't understand why I want to be careful!

mine's in more debt than me and a student, so if anyone should want to be saving money its him!
BTW Catt can I ask how you've managed to clear over 2k off your debt since sept? Seems like a fab achievement, I'd like to get some of whatever you're putting on your cornflakes?!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
LOL, to be fair I've just scraped together scraps of savings that were in different accounts that I'd never got around to closing, and I live at home with ma n pa so I save a lot there too. I'm lucky I guess!
I eBay quite a bit though too, but I know your probs with that one!
