Can they do this/Job Seekers

I have written to the Secretary of State for the DWP twice, each time I got a letter back from the local area manager and the problem was solved immediately. They told me in the office if they get a letter in from an MP there is a big "who ha" as to whose fault it is but nothing gets done, but if you write directly to Whitehall they fix things dam quick. Took me 6 years before I exploded and wrote to the Secretary of State and I wish I had done it in the first place, would have saved a lot of time and hassle. I think after that they put a marker next to my record as nothing has gone wrong since, inspite of years of error upon error, so they must keep a record somewhere.0

When did you do these forms then? it should not take 4 weeks to get the claim restarted.
Sorry but you can get train that arrives in Paddington before 7 easily the tube gets going around 5.
Forms. I sign on on the 16th Sept.received two weeks money the following Monday 21st Sept, I then signed on two weeks later 30th Sept, when my claim was supended...I received no money since then as I am told they pay two weeks in arears, so the money I received on the 30th Sept was my two weeks arrears....hope I have made myself clear!!!
my claim was supended on 30th September, I had to wait one week (Thurs 8th Oct)until I received a letter from Ireland (who use to pay my money,) I rung them on 8th Oct, and they told me to get a reclaim form, and a appeal form, which I did on Friday the 9th Oct, I returned the forms to the Job centre office on Monday the 12th Oct....
I signed on again, yesterday the 14th Oct, and am still awaiting an answer about the reclaim and appeal.....
The trains to Victoria rail station do not start running until after 7am.
To do it any other way, would take at least three changes, and almost two hours (1 hours 58 min) to get there, thats wilthout the time to get to the station and to get to the job once I am at Paddington station. funny, but the job sounded quite interesting although, of course it was only paying the minium wage and was 40+ hours a week.....Lilly0 -
its ok love, while they are messing you about, the shirkers will get away with claiming and not looking for a job, so you are in effect helping some other person out, good for you!!!. and before i get shot down in flames i know a lot of people who get jsa and have not worked for years and still get away with it, it is disgusting, it does not pay you to work and pay ni and tax and then to be treated badly when you just want some money to live on untill you can find work. that was the position i found myself in 3 years ago and i would not sign on again even if my life depended on it.don't worry, I am use to critisism...Lol....I don't think it was meant the way, it came over....maybe that why I can't get a job...lol...bad punctuation!!! I do read my answers back, and they seem ok....but maybe not.....
as you say, I guess I am a bit stress, because of all of this, but I just can't see what I done wrong, I really have been trying to work again, I have worked since I was 15, and I am now 59, and feel so let down by a system that is in place that is suppose to help us when we need it, and its not....
The Job centre send me on a work course for 3 months, along with about 25 others, I was the only one that turned up everyweek, and the stories I heard from other people, who had been unemployed for up to 5 years, I just couldn't believe it, they were fiddling the system everyway they could....
that is another reason I feel so sick about this....that the Job centre think I am like this...I have always worked hard, and paid my dues, never been in any sort of trouble, and managed to get two children though Uni...and I am a widow, so I haven't done to bad, until now.....;)...Lilly0 -
**Amersall** thank you so much for your kind words, no one knows how this has upset me, I am sitting here with tears in my eyes, I can not believe how badly I have been treated, I have done everything they have ask me, and to be treated like this....
**Savagej** thank you also for your kind words, I have read what you have said and will write this afternoon, or even better an email, to the Secretary of State for DWP.
I really feel that this should be address, and that they should be made aware of how their 'servants' are treating their public....
thank you both so much.....Lilly0 -
Thanks for you words lol...I don't actually have a car anyway, they have suggested I work at Bluewater, which is a large shopping centre as there are jobs there, I said that it was a 38 mile round trip and would take me over two hours to get there.....they just don't understand.....
I'm sorry but it does not take 2 hours each way from SE3 to Bluewater by public transport! You could walk it in that time!0 -
You can walk 16 miles from Kidbrooke to Bluewater in two hours, good for you,...lol it takes me an hour to walk to Woolwich to sign on, (three and an half miles) but then I am 59, and can't walk quite as quick as I could when I was was younger....and it takes over an hour by bus to get to Bexleyheath...now, I know that as I have done it....thats without the hold ups of course, like Welling, and the Blackwall tunnel (cos the bus I would get comes from that way) plus rush hour etc etc....Old age comes to as all......;)...Lilly0

course you can walk that distance in 1 hour:p:p:p a woman of your ageYou can walk 16 miles from Kidbrooke to Bluewater in two hours, good for you,...lol it takes me an hour to walk to Woolwich to sign on, (three and an half miles) but then I am 59, and can't walk quite as quick as I could when I was was younger....and it takes over an hour by bus to get to Bexleyheath...now, I know that as I have done it....thats without the hold ups of course, like Welling, and the Blackwall tunnel (cos the bus I would get comes from that way) plus rush hour etc etc....Old age comes to as all......;)...Lilly

I know they can because they have,!!! stopped my job seekers allowance, I am 59, I have worked for 44 years, paying tax etc, I was made reduntant, Sept 2008, I have been looking (I really have) and signing on, I had the same 'lady' who is very rude, twice when signing on, (might also add she took a personal phone call on her mobile while she was suppose to inviewing me, no 'oh excuse me, or sorry about that' ) the last time all she said was, what have you been doing to find work, look there are loads of jobs(all of which were unsuitable. (like 25 miles each way, part time, min wage) or one and half hours for 3 days a week.....anyway I told her, what I had been doing, even started an Open University course to improve my skills.. she then waved!!! me to sit else where, and I had to fill in a form...and my claim was supended, !!! so no money for 4 weeks now, can they just do that, how do they expect honest people to live, I am so cross....if my rent goes to £100, the council can threated to evict me...had to borrow money from daughter who is at Uni just to buy food, while they sort my appeal out and my new claim....how in Britain 2009 can this happen or be allowed....of course a strong letter of complain is going in....but I can't believe they can just stop your money like that, with no warning, so I have had no money for 4 weeks now....just wondered what your thoughts were...next week I will have to do a bit of shop lifting (only joking) but I can see people doing that, because they are being force to, just to eat...just needed to have a rant....but some times, I feel so low, I don't know what to do.....thanks for your ears...Lilly
