Possibly because they all went to Trading Standards, as the previous poster has said?
• the bbc don't seem to be interested, perhaps wales is not of sufficient importance for them. just wait till bbc staff and journalists are directly affected, either in their personal or professional life

This is an email I received from the Ministry of Justice

Dear Mr Ghowry

My apologies for the delay in responding. The business did not provide the information as requested, and therefore I contacted the Head of Regulation to take enforcement action. The business’s can no longer provide employment claims to consumers as this has been removed from their authorisation. Part of the enforcement action has been to secure an undertaking to agree to your file being released to me. The file should be received by the 16 September, and therefore I hope to have some information for you by the end of September.

Yours sincerely

Mr Ghowry, this may be of interest to you:

This business is authorised with specific conditions.
VARIATION SCHEDULE – CRM19622 Action Direct (UK) Ltd

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF AUTHORISATION UNDER REGULATION 12 OF THE COMPENSATION (CLAIMS MANAGEMENT SERVICES) REGULATIONS 2006

1. Action Direct (UK) Ltd must not, in relation to employment claims management services:

a. advertise for, or otherwise seek out, persons who may have a cause of action. That includes removing all advertising, including websites; or

b. represent a claimant (whether in writing or orally, and regardless of the tribunal, body or person to or before which or whom the representation is made).

2. Action Direct (UK) Ltd must not, in relation to employment claims management services, except for its existing employment clients:

a. advise a claimant or potential claimant in relation to his or her claim or cause of action;

b. refer details of a claim or claimant, or cause of action or potential claimant, to another person, including a person having the right to conduct litigation; or

c. investigate, or commission the investigation of, the circumstances, merits or foundations of a claim, with a view to the use of the results in pursuing the claim.

Please click here for more details.

The inference is that Tribunal Action (a trading name of Action Direct UK Ltd, which is a subsidiary of Fields Group Ltd) were not supposed to advertise for, or represent claimants in the Employment Tribunal, which they apparently did claim to do.

I will find out more details from the MOJ and post the response here.

I would be grateful if you could PM me, I would like to have a look at the email the MOJ sent you. Search my name here and you will see that I have been active in exposing Fields Group Ltd for their sharp business practices

Do a search for "quickie divorce" "fields data recovery", both are run by the same directors and part of the Fields Group of companies. You can also see a very long thread on a notorious company called PCN-UK Ltd, also featured on this website, and registered to the home address of the Fields Group chairman.
• These posts on the Consumer Action Group suggest that Tribunal Action certainly advertised their claims management service, they were doing more than just processing ET1 forms, and people ended up having to sue the people they hired to help them.

I contacted this company after their details came up on a presentation by Peninsula about an HR update. Initially I was quite impressed, the paperwork came though very quickly and the documents were prepared for me to approve online. However, I began to doubt that I did have a good claim for wrongful dismissal (breach of contract) after speaking with a solicitor. I also wanted someone to handle the case for me, not just write a letter to my previous employer for them to reply to me.

The problems started when I cancelled with Tribunal Action, within the 14 day period. I was sent a link to register that on, and since then I have heard nothing from them, well over a month ago. I had a voicemail message on November 1st, telling me that my refund would be in my bank account by the end of that week. Since then, 6 phone calls and a lot of fobbing off later, I have still not got my money.

My advice is tell everyone you know not to deal with these people. They don't give the right advice anyway and then don't refund your money. Write to as many legal and consumer organisations that you can, the more people who do this, and the more complaints that are logged, the more the likelihood is that they will get closed down. Possible fraud case for the police? That's worth a try too!

This is the same company as Tribunal Online with whom I have recently done business!
I bought one of their packages and they sent a letter to my employer and filled in the ET1 form for me ...This service cost £411 inc VAT. On Friday 20th August a letter was sent to my employer and I sent the ET1 to the Employment Tribunal.
Today I got a letter from the Employment Tribunal rejecting my claim!

I too recently signed up with these guys, I was originally a bit suspicious that the girls on the phones who promised me the earth, had little legal knowledge, but then I figured that the back room staff would. However just like all the other posts, they failed to do what they promised

I too had problems with this company. I paid them nearly £1100.00 and suffered the same problems that everyone else has described.

As a last resort I filled in a county court claim and e-mailed it to the Service Centre, telling them that I was about to send it to the courts. I wasn't bluffing. By the next day I had been contacted by Tribunal Action's solicitor as they appear to freak out when they get one of these forms. She investigated my complaint and as a result I got my money back

Action Direct and its parent, Fields Group Ltd operate a large number of document-spooling/paper-mill websites, which involve large numbers of sales staff taking your payment, but failing to deliver and/or refusing to refund unless you take the matter right to the wire (small claims track). Most people don't take it that far, and thus the company remains profitable.

It is appalling that people end up having to take legal action against a company that is supposed to be processing a claim against their employer, as if that was not stressful enough.

As for the alleged legal expertise of Tribunal Action, the website might be down but it is archived here: http://web.archive.org/web/20090330012836/http://www.tribunal-action.com/reliability.html

Have the non-UK paralegals or the Law firms mentioned here been representing Tribunal Action clients in their claims?

Is it reasonable to charge over a thousand pounds to fill in and send an ET1? Were the claims drafted competently and how many failed because they were drafted incompetently?
