http://www.vectonemobile.co.uk piggybacks on T-Mobile lots of interesting rates.

Article about them in Mobile Today a couple of months ago.

It's interesting in that Vectone to Vectone calls are free.

It's also interesting to note that there is no mention of what the cost is to call 0800, 0808, 0844, 0845, 0870 and 0871 numbers. Also no mention of the cost to retrieve answerphone messages.

There is no mention of how calls are charged for, ie in full minutes, or per second etc.

Tariffing is one of the most important aspects that operators regularly fail display clearly to their potential customers.

The 1p per minute weekend calls to international destinations is not quite as generous as it first seems and it is dependent on you topping up that week!:

1p offer applies to international calls to fixed and mobile numbers for limited mins to selected destinations between 00.00.01hrs Sat and 24.00hrs Sun for accounts topped up between 00.00.01hrs Mon and 24.00hrs Sun of same week. For destinations and limited minutes see www.vectonemobile.co.ukhttp://www.vectonemobile.co.uk. Calls over limited mins charged at standard rate. Excl special & non-geo numbers, and calls made whilst roaming. Offer valid until 31.12.09.

    and texts.

"Vectone to Vectone calls are free for the first 10 minutes per call. Calls over 10 minutes will be charged at £0.05 per minute.
The first 500 Vectone to Vectone SMS are free. Any other SMS Messages will be charged at £0.05.
Fair Use Policy applies see Terms and Conditions for details."

Yes I noticed that texts were included. But, for both on-net calls and texts, this offer lasts only until 31 December.

They need to clarify the points raised in my earlier post.

I emailed Vectone a few days ago asking about what happens on 1st January. Will these rates go up? Surprise, surprise - No Reply.

Anyone using them? Have they announced any changes to current customers? Happy to switch to them but a real pain to do it again so soon.
  • Its been more than 2 weeks now. I haven't recieved the new sim I ordered online. No-one picks up the phone on customer care. I have got no replies for the query I sent last week for getting the order update....I have emailed them twice... This is crazy!!! Has anyone got the sim yet...Is it a scam or something ??

    same here...
  • Sure I'm stating the obvious here, but Asda is dirt cheap too, isn't a scam in that you can pick up sims extremely easily (With the potatos) and piggybacks on Vodafone so no probs with coverage.
Bit more "expensive" at 8p a minute, but that's near unbeatable for PAYG really.
